“Great place for off peak”
Reviewed March 14, 2012

We spent a week at the Apartments back in October last year, and it must be said it was great.

We were on the top floor overlooking the pool and the flat was very spacious and the beds were great.. We have a double room but the living room was so spacious that you could have easily put an additional 2 people in the there without being on top of each other.

I would say that this place does not have air conditioning so in the height of summer you may not wise to stay here but its great for families, couples and young professionals... I would not say this is a suitable place for the 18-25 party crowd.

Just spent a week in Ouraatlantico (24/02/12 to 02/03/12). We had a studio apartment on 1st floor which was suprisingly spacious. Sofa beds which were very firm and may not be to everyone's taste but suited us ok. Lots of extra blankets provided & we did need them as it was quite cold at night. Generally we found the complex to be well maintained and clean and I would have no hesitation recommending these to anyone. Nice pool area with sunbeds but no padded cushions. Location is fantastic - close to Oura beach, strip & within walking distance of Old Town. Turn right outside complex & at roundabout turn left for beach, right for strip & straight ahead for Old Town. 30/35 minutes transfer from Faro airport. Facilities within complex were listed as it having a 'coffee-shop' - all we seen was a coffee vending machine. It also states that there is an indoor pool & there may have been but we didn't see it. No snack bar but there is a Sauna (local charge); Internet Access (local charge) & Games Room. Get a map from reception - it will really give you your bearings of the area. Weather was great for 6 of out 7 days with sunshine & temps of 19/20 degrees, only exception Thursday 1st March - it rained & was quite cold. Still great week for this time of year. Would recommend Paulu's Pasta Café, on way to beach for food - fab fillet steak deal (Steak, Salad, Chips, 1/2 bottle of wine & Dessert - €15.50). Would recommend Invictus Pub - €1.50 for large beer until 10 p.m. nightly

Just got back from a weeks stay at Ouratlantico Apartments. Lovely place! We arrived early and were able to check in. We were in a studio apartment on the ground floor which was basic but had everything we needed and was very clean. The kitchen area was very clean with cooker, fridge, toaster, microwave. The beds were sofa beds, not the most comfortable but still able to get a good nights sleep. The bathroom was basic but clean and had fresh towels every two days. Apartment had glass doors with grass and table and chairs outside, nice for sitting out with a book. The staff were friendly and helpful. It did get quite cold of a night but had heater in the room and extra blankets if needed. Location is great, 2mins from the strip and a 5 minute walk to the beautiful oura beach.

Old Town is definately worth a visit! Lots of cafes, restaurants, shops, churches and the lovely fisherman's beach. Its about a 30min walk or the bus stop is close to the apartments. If your looking for somewhere to eat in old town try restaurante cabana fresca, its on the front overlooking the beach and the chicken cataplana is delicious!!

Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and would come back in the future :)

Well on arrival the rooms were ready for us in the morning although check in says 3pm so a good start. The staff were very polite and pointed us in the right direction of our apartments which I have to say were clean and had everything we needed including full kitchen, no need to take a travel kettle as one is provided as well as toaster and microwave. The only negative is the beds are sofa beds but you can push them together. There are now new mattresses on the beds so very comfortable but they now need to replace the pillows which were very lumpy and uncomfortable. All in all a lovely place to stay with everything within walking distance, supermarket 5 minutes walk to the left, the strip of bars and restaurants to the right although not many open in February. Old town is worth a visit and a 30 minute walk or 4-5 Euro in taxi. Taxi rank 2 minutes walk to the left of hotel and they are regulated so they can't overcharge you. If you're English go to the Invictus Bar to you right of the hotel for fantastic service, English breakfast only 3.30 Euro and a pint of local beer only 1.50 Euros. All in all a lovely place to visit with lots of sunshine even in February.

Nice location. English teenagers partying all night nearly made us crazy. Staff did not care. Cleaning once a week! Nice pool and nice apartments. We had three balconies! NOTE! No aircondition or fans!!!

We travelled to Portugal in September for the first time. We were pleasantly surprised when we got to our apartments because after all they are budget apartments, but the price did not reflect what we got for the money. The complex is very tidy and well kept, it has a nice feel to it. The pool was very clean, we watched the pool man clean it out every day. The apartments are very basic, but they are clean and really have everything you need for a nice stay. The location was great, as we were just down the road from "The Strip" or you could catch a bus just outside the apartment to the Old Town which was about two miles away, and well worth a visit. We liked it so much here we have booked to go back again this year. Thank you Ouratlantico.

Originally, we had booked accomodation at the Aurumar where we were informed a week before that we had now been swapped - not happy with the new place they had given us from the reviews on here, we were eventually given the Ouratlantico and it was perfect.
I went with my boyfriend, board bed and breakfast from October 17-24th, and besides the last day, we had beautiful sunshine all week.
We had a studio apartment and we were not dissapointed. The room had a basic bathroom, but was very clean. They're like little villages and we had a grassy front with chairs and table outside the glass doors, which we enjoyed sitting outside and playing cards or reading. There was a kitchen area that had EVERYTHING - kettles, toaster, fridge-freezer, a microwave etc. Usually it is all pretty basic, so this would be an ideal place to stay on the cheap as there is a supermarket just 5 minutes walk away (take the left from the entrance of the hotel - they also have a cash machine if you are taking a travellers card thing) and so you can cook everything in, rather than eating out.
Saying that, eating out wasn't expensive. The strip is two minute walk away and has lots of bars, restaurants and touristy shops. Most are good food and reasonably priced. Watch out for drinks though, as I was charged 7 Euro's for a vodka, lemondade and lime!
The pool isn't heated and so is quite cold, but that doesn't matter because the beach is 5 minute walk away! If you go right from the hotels entrance and up a little hill, there is a round about - if you go left, the beach is just down the hill, if you go straight on, it is about a 20 minute walk from the old down which is absolutely stunning!!! Go right and you have the strip.
I have been to Albufeira twice and it is gorgeous. For a bit of culture, go to the bull fight, or the historic algarve tour. The safari is well worth it and you go all up the mountains and try alcohol etc. It is lovely. Don't book with the hotel though.
Don't expect much from the breakfast as it is very basic, but it was delicious. A drink, toast, fresh hot bread, served with butters, jams, ham and cheese. Enough to start you off for the day.
Definitely go to the Old town. It is less touristy than the Strip and has gorgeous beaches. The restaurants are amazing and you have to try STEAK ON A STONE - YUM! Watch out though as everywhere will try and get you into their restaurants and it can be quite intimidating.
Sorry for the rant, but at least you know about the Ouratlantico and the Algarve now.
I would definitely reccommend these apartments as they are good value for money (we payed £160 for the whole holday) and although basic, are very clean (maids came in every day) and comfy. Ideal for families and couples, or for group holidays as the nightlife is brilliant - summer is the busiest time. The staff are great and the Portugese people are lovely. I would happily stay here again and again :)
