Cerro Mar Atlantico Touristic Apartments

Just had a really enjoyable 4 nights in Cerro Mar Atlantico. Agree with some reviewers that the complex is a bit confusing, we had to cross two roads to get to our apartments but they were really spacious, well equipped and clean so no complaints. Couldn't find the pool for the block we were in but the one sunny day we had we used the main pool in Cerro mar Garden which was great. Check in, staff, cleaners all good. No complaints. Not much around the apartment area, but the old town square is at the bottom of the famous steps so you are near to most stuff. We made one trip on the first day to LIDL, we walked over (about 15mins, unless we took the wrong road) and got a taxi back (7 euro) so it is important to make the journey worth your while and do a big shop. Our weather wasn't great the 4 days we were there but it didn't matter, we had a good time, good night life and nice food. Would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Check which block you are in at time of booking.

Where do I start,we stayed from the 4th to the 14th October. On arrival myself and my husband couldn't believe the size of our one bedroomed apartment in the Cerro Mar Atlantico! Had everything that we could have needed and the view was amazing from the balcony, we had a view of the sea, the pool and the old town (we were in room 306). The beaty of this complex is that it is made up of a few blocks which meant that in total there were 6 outdoor pools so none of them get crowded. The hotel was very clean and very well maintained.

Just outside the hotel are the 97 steps down to the old town which were not difficult at all (maybe would be for people with mobility issues). The old town was fab, lots of nice places to eat and get a cocktail or two. We particularly liked going to the Rock Cafe. The Band that played there were absolutely spot on!

We ventured up to the new town for one night and it was a little too 'brits abroad' for our liking.

The weather was also amazing, so hot and no rain at all!

Would definately recommend the Cerro Mar Complex and would definately go back to Albufeira! We can't wait to go back!

We were there from the 6 th until the 13th October and had a super holiday a massive complex with the advantage of choice of pools and pool bars can I say thanks to Ana and Leonora for smiling service and good bar snacks. Our appt was 305 with a round key fob(if you go you will discover why shapes differ) brilliant balcony with Sun from first to last thing had all you needed kept very clean by the cheerful maids thanks to them ! The restaurant would highly recommend and the red wine Alandra definitely a bottle or 2 worth trying for the price. One dilemma we had was to go to the barbeque or not and what a night we had could have been the company the food and yes more red wine. Our big surprise was Chico who had moved our luggage to the appt carried with ease 2 rather heavy cases. Then he fixed our door lock then we find him cooking the Barbie extremely well but he saved the best till last his dancing !!!!! As one of our party can verify it was an absolute hoot for us but she was spun round like a top boy can he move but all the bar staff made it a night to remember worth a try if you go.
Reception staff pretty cool and helpful at all times and you can even borrow a hairdryer free !!!
If I could suggest 2 things a microwave and a small pan would finish the kitchen of to perfection.
Many thanks to everyone e we met well done for your high standards.

Room Tip: 305 ideal for us

I book this apt through Venere.com after reading a lot of good reviews on Tripadvisor. Some of the reviews speak of dishwashers and washing machines, but be aware that "Cerro Mar Atlantico Touristic Apptments is made up from many different blocks with roads running between some of them. Our apt was clean and spacious, but we had no Toaster, Microwave or even a spatchular (having a fryup was made difficult). The apt was cleaned every day to a good standard, (our cleaner was a happy smiley lady). Internet access has to be paid for 3E for 30 mins or 4E for the hour (even if you use your own device). Go down town, its free in most bars etc.

We arrived just after 9pm, checked in and was shown to our room. Was disappointed to find there was no welcome pack, (not even a instant coffee). We had seen an Aldi and Lidl on the way in, so set off to get basics (milk & bread etc) only to find that they closed at 2100 Hrs every day. So had to settle for a McDonalds until the next morning. Aldi & Lidl is only approx 5 mins walk (depending which block you are staying in). There are a lot of other supermarket in the area (a bit of walking involved). There is a "Mini Mart" across from reception, which is expensive and not that good.

The "Old Town" is down a 100 odd steps. There is a hotel bus during the day at 10, 12, 2, 4 and 5.30. We walked to the "Strip" a few times (it took us approx 40 to 45 mins).

I did manage to get an ear infection from the small Swimming Pool, which I might add didn't always look a 100% clean.

Room Tip: The Cerro Mar Gardens is the main hotel.

Booked an apartment from 23rd September for 10 days, and certainly not 4 star.On arrival we were given a key, told to cross the road,go through the locked gates,go past two blocks of apartments go through another locked gate, cross another road,go through another locked gate to an apartment block, into a lift down to level 100,which can only be described as a dungeon We had asked for a room on an upper level for safety reasons due to my wife,s inability too sleep without a bedroom window being open.So back we trudged, road, gate, road gate, etc to reception, and stood behind a girl (who was in tears) complaining about the same thing. We were met by a surly receptionist who told us there were no more rooms available,(not true) as after informing him we we would not accept the room and demanding our money back suddenly found that an apartment was available same block 3rd floor,so,after the walk back, roads gates etc we found this apartment acceptable.I must point out that these apartments are NOT the Atlantico apartments that i booked and paid for, they are called Montechero with NO swimming pool or bar and are not 4 star.Although the rooms are large and cleaned daily,we found no hairdryer and iron but could "borrow" these from reception,so,again, gates, roads,to get them, gates, roads to take them to our apartment, gates roads to to take them back.By now you should be getting the picture. No microwave,or washing machine,a television the size of an i pad with only 3 channels no complementary toiletries, worn wrong size toilet seat, rock hard PLASTIC sofa and chair.no kitchen cleaning utensils, the list goes on.all these things are more 2 star.
So if you book to come here and are given a key told to cross two roads and go through three gates to level 100 dont accept.
One more thing,a coat of paint over the graffiti down the steps to town wouldnt go amiss.
A 4 star hotel with 2 star ameneties in a 2 star area.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms in the "dungeon"

We stayed 06/10/13 til 13/10/13. When we arrived (we booked 3 apts for our party) the receptionist told us there was a problem with the room we should have been staying in and we would be in a seperate block to the others. This was not a problem as they are close to each other. We were quickly checked in and our one bed apt was huge. It had a large bedroom, massive living room and kitchen. The bathroom had just been refurbished with new fittings, however the shower head was very old, wierd you would think this could be replaced but it worked but could have been better. What I loved about the apartments was there was 5 pools so if one was not to your liking you could use one of the others. The apartments were clean and fresh towells every day. Note there wasn't a microwave but that was no problem to us as we ate out. There wasn't a hairdryer either but I always take mine as I am never impressed with the ones in the bathrooms!!!! One of our party got one from reception free of charge. We ate at the hotels restaurant the first night as we couldn't be bothered to go down the town. Food was very good and we got 3 vouchers for wine, which I must say we enjoyed. I would recommend eating there if you didnt want to venture down the steps to the town. The dreaded steps people mention were no problem to us, there are 2 lots so depending were you want to go in town you can choose between them. The staff were super friendly, well you are in Portugal and we love the people here. Food from the snack bars ( every pool has one) was very good and reasonably priced. We loved this place and will definitely return. One point, when we arrived we were given our room key and gate key ( there are gates everywhere for security) but we didnt get a card for the entrance doors to our block. There was not anyone there at night to let us in so we spend an amusing hour going through gate after gate and getting no where and had to get security to let us in. Next day a trip to reception solved this and we had no further problem.

Room Tip: studios are on ground level. So if you want a great view get one bed apt ours had a good view and go...

Just got back from a week at the Cerro Mar and it was perfect from the room to the location which is very close to the old town via a few steps. The room was well equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer e.c.t and was modern throughout. I cant recommend this hotel enough but i will definitely be returning!!
