My wife and I (both pensioners) have just returned from a most enjoyable two weeks holiday in the Sun at the Brisa Sol, regardless of some negative reviews of this hotel (not that we found many) we have nothing but praise for the accommodation, cleanliness and helpfulness of the reception staff (especially Joanna.)
We were staying on a Self-Catering basis, the room was cleaned every day, towels and toiletries changed / topped up every day.
There was an electric kettle, a toaster, a microwave (personally we would have preferred to have a real oven) plenty of pots, pans, crockery and cutlery etc., to cover most needs. The tea towels were changed daily.
There was a modern large Flat Screen TV in the Lounge / Dining area and a 14 “ old style TV in the bedroom which we found quite acceptable, after all one does not go on holiday to Portugal to watch TV, although some people will never be satisfied.
There was no shortage of coat hangers in the bedroom and If you need to use the safe in your room, you must pay a 15 euro deposit (refunded on return) when paying for the key and lock
The reception area is very impressive and really looks and feels, “Four Star”
We stayed in room 226 which had its door facing the main road but this did not worry us as the Balcony overlooked the pool and afforded us great views of the sea.
Coming out from our apartment we could see across the road a McDonalds, a KFC and a Chinese Restaurant which was Eat in or Takeaway, and there also was a Multibank (ATM) .
The one aspect of this hotel which we found difficult to ignore was the fabulous cake shop, “The Riviera Pastelaria”, as many before have mentioned it is simply fantastic, with such an incredible choice you could spend a lot of time just looking….
The location is just perfect, being only a ten to fifteen minute walk down to the escalators leading to Fisherman’s Beach, in The Old Town. The little Road Train stops just outside the Hotel and goes down to the escalators, via The Strip.(One way Half Ticket 2euro ; Half Ticket for a day 3euro (over 65s) The day ticket entitles you to get on and off as many times as you want all day / night. With a one way ticket, once you get off the train no matter which stop (and there are only four) it is no longer valid.
I noticed that other reviewers mention Internet Access, being a bit of a problem since the hotel still charges for Wi-Fi. I tried to get Wi-Fi but found that one needed a validated access code, available from reception (with a usage charge) no Free Wi-Fi in the Hotel……but walk next door into the Shopping Centre, go down the escalator/ travalator and round by the Eateries, you will find totally Free and Fast Wi-Fi courtesy of Albufeira Shopping and Optimus.
It now appears that virtually every bar and restaurant in Albufeira offers “FREE WIFI”, and use that fact as an incentive to get you to come in.
Taking everything into consideration, Location, comfort, amenities , value for money, staff and overall appearance I cannot imagine even looking for alternative accommodation and will most certainly be returning next year.
