“Over rated !!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2013 via mobile

I tend to use trip advisor a lot and after reading the reviews for this hotel I expected a lot , well I have to say this is not a 4 star hotel I have been too many !! In my opinion this is an average 3 star even the rep had to agree with us , yes the hotel is clean but the rooms are in need of a make over which is being done next year, bathroom is very poor tiles dirty and scratched , beds very uncomfortable, entertainment non existent , old town is a good walk away and tricky if you have mobility problems , we travelled as a large family and were given totally different floors when asked if we could be closer we were told were working on it , 2 weeks later we were still waiting and gave up, some of the staff were friendly others were very rude, on the whole not a bad hotel, but just don't want people to think its as amazing as people say !!! 3 * rating

My husband and I have been visiting Albufeira practically every year since 1993. We have stayed in different venues in different areas and latterly in the Vila gale Cerro Alogoa which is next door to the Briso Sol. This is our first time staying in the Briso Sol. We will come back here.
The one bedroom apartment was large, well-appointed with small, galley-style kitchen ( electric kettle, toaster and microwave, electric hot plate with 2 rings, cutlery, crockery, glassware, pots and pans etc), nice little dining area, 2 settees and coffee table, television with BBC and Channel 4, as well as Sky, CNN, etc Good sized 4 piece bathroom suite, with hair dryer, electric razor socket. One wee, tiny gripe, the bathroom towels, though fluffy and immaculately white would have been more impressive if they had been bath sheets. Size of bedroom adequate to needs with built-in double wardrobes, dressing table top with 2 small drawers and a small tv in bedroom too. Twin beds with a nice wee cosy carpet at side of each bed so not putting feet onto cold tiles on rising in morning. Balcony faced into pool and gardens - and over to Atlantic Coast. We got the sun all day.
The cleaners kept the place in tip top condition, towels were changed every day, and beds were changed frequently. The place was immaculate.
We were on a bed and breakfast basis - and could find no fault with the variety of food on offer. Fruit juices, fresh fruit (bananas, oranges, apples, plums, kiwi fruits, grapes, peaches), cereals, variety of bread rolls, cold meats and cheeses, variety of fruits for serving with yoghurts, hot food such as bacon, sausages, scrambled and fried eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms. Wonderful fruit cake.
The breakfast staff were attentive, kind, courteous and helpful. A special mention to the two younger members of staff - Marco and Marcia - lovely young people, who were funny and entertaining as well. The breakfast patrons all enjoyed their lighthearted antics - brought smiles to all faces. Good for the digestion!
A large pool area outside with lots of tiny little pools for babies and toddlers. There is an inside pool too and swimming caps are mandatory here. There are games rooms, tennis courts, squash courts for those who want to be energetic. And massages are available too for those who need a bit of stress erased fro shoulders and back.
To return to staff review, all staff we met, cleaners, Reception staff, etc, were friendly and courteous.
The Riviera Pasteleria, which is immediately outside hotel, and part of the establishment, is a very popular venue for Portuguese and tourists alike. We ate here on quite a few evenings and their grilled sole, grilled stone bass, turkey escalopes with mushroom sauce. Barbecued chicken, peppered steaks are all very well presented. The variety of cakes in this wee 'cafe' is fantastic, and we loved the pastel del coco and pastel del nata. The pastry is wonderful as well as the filling. So light! This place is well worth a visit or ten!!!
As we were here for a very well-deserved rest we took life very easy in Albufeira this year. Because we know it so well, we revisited old haunts, climbed the coastal route over to pria d'ouro and Santa Eulalia, clambering over rocks, waded through the waves, cooling our feet, walked past the Rue Sir Cliff Richard (cantor) over to the marina, generally re-acquainting ourselves once more with places we have come to know very well. Not once this year did we travel out of the resort. And we had a really lovely, peaceful, restorative time with the Briso Sol helping in the process.
As said at the beginning - we will come back here next year to this hotel. I would recommend it to you too.

Room Tip: Ask for 1 bedroom apartment facing the pool.

stayed for a week half board arriving 21 september.paid extra for a pool view studio room which was adequate and cleaned daily.breakfast great proper sausages too.evening meal ok too but not a great deal to choose from.staff pleasant except a certain lady named eva who was quite rude on two occasions in the breakfast area to two elderly british guests.location great as mentioned before.and no need to queue up for sunbeds always plenty available.would probably stay again in a studio with a patio.

Room Tip: ground floor studio private patio and sun lounges

4 of us stayed early september we always read trip advisor before we book anywhere.
we did not have a pool view but that did not spoil our stay, the rooms were spotlessly cleaned on a daily schedule and every single member of staff was polite and always had a smile on their faces.
the pool area was one of if not the cleanest i have ever seen and the pool bar although small catered for all your needs with a decent menu..the portions are HUGE...
if you get a chance to book a trip to the caves please do it from the beach as we booked from an agency...BIG MISTAKE... we had a bus from our hotel that took us all the way to villa moura then was packed onto it like bloody sardines just to get a guided tour of every beach and hotel on the way to the caves..when at the caves although very nice we could not go into them because the boat we were on called THE MOENA ( please keep away from this boat if you dont want to be BORED TO DEATH...) was to big ( EVEN THOUGH WE WERE SARDINES )..
if anyone reading this review enjoys really good indian cuisine then please visit a place in the old town down the escalators called THE MINAR absoluteley FANTASTIC FOOD AT really good prices overall our holiday experience 9 out of 10

Room Tip: get a poolside room for a good view ask for a higher level

We stayed here for 3 nights to start our holiday in the Algarve. No point repeating what others have said about it here, so I will just mention stuff not very well covered.
It is very central being more or less equal distance from Albufeira old town, the Strip and the beach. To that end it is in a little bit of no-man’s land too without a lot of bars or lots of nightlife nearby but if you are prepared to walk about 20 minutes (or use the “train” €4 hop on hop off for a day and stops right outside) you will be right there in it. So you have a choice, but choose the old town, the Strip is now a kip but then we are in our late forty’s so don’t listen to me if you are younger.
There is a big supermarket right next door, with a number of other shops attached.
The hotel itself has no free WiFi not even in the reception area, which I hate. Might as well charge us extra for electricity. However the shopping centre next door does have free WiFi down stairs in the food hall, as does the McDonalds and KFC across the road.
The rooms were fine. We overlooked the car park too that one other reviewer complained about but it wasn’t that bad (see my picture) and it did mean we were due south so sun from morning to late afternoon on the balcony.
The bed was the usual too single pushed together as a double!..... But otherwise they were fine and certainly the room was clean.
The bakery/snack bar next door does need a mention. Very good and open until 1am if you arrive in late like us on the 9pm flight from Shannon. Great for an afternoon treat as well.
Certainly I would stay here again if I was back in this town but I am not sure I would rush back to Albufeira. But please give your guest’s access to WiFi without having to pay extra for it.

Room Tip: The rooms over looking the car-park don't have a great view but they do have sun from morning to...

we go for 6 wks twice a year feb and October. We always choose a studio pool view ofcourse. There is everything you need and more.
Located next door is a huge supermarket for self catering stays.
The only gripe my partner has is the gym they don't open it till 10 am,and they charge 3 euros per day.
Everything else is spot on.

Room Tip: always request pool view
