“Good Hotel, second visit”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

My partner and I stayed here in March this year and the year before. Really nice, clean and the rooms are well appointed - We upgraded to a pool room on the ground floor which have larger balconies for sunbathing and are slightly more private than around the pool.

Breakfast was nice- typical continental- fresh fruit, yoghurts, croissants and cooked options. The hotel does have an evening menu but the restaurant was never open at this time so I cannot really comment on the food of an evening- although there is an amazing French style patisserie next door that is open till late.

Staff were ok, although the night porter was a bit abrasive when I had ran out of water in the middle of the night and went to reception to enquire as to whether they had any vending machines I could buy a bottle from - I got a curt "No! The tap water is fine!"- I didn't risk it. Everyone else I encountered was pleasant.

The old Town is a short walk (10 mins) from the hotel however be warned that the surface of the pavement is very slippery- especially on the downhill part- I would avoid wearing any high shoes with no grip. There is a "new" town which was basically a strip of bars and some souvenir shops- the old town is the better of the two- really rustic and quaint with plenty of shops and bars and restaurants- word of warning however there is a local nut-job we encountered on both times we were on holiday who asks for cigarettes from tourists- do not give him one as he won't leave you alone after that- he was always drunk in the town square and can be quite intimidating. Other than that the hotel and town in general is really nice. Definitely worth a visit.

Stayed at Brisa Sol after having to vacate the horrendous room at Cerro Mar Colina. This was our second stay here and it was beautiful. Reception staff are so friendly as are the cleaning staff. We had a one bedroom apartment on the fourth floor looking out to sea. The only thing I thought was unfair was charging hotel guests 3 euro per day to use the gym facilities. I would certainly go back to Brisa Sol, it is in a great location with a 15 minute walk downhill to the beach and old town,

Room Tip: Room 401 was a fabulous room looking out to sea.

Me and my partner stayed here end of August for 10 days on a Bed and breakfast basis. The hotel was lovely, clean and great staff. We had an apartment room 202 and was facing the car park which was nice and quiet and didn't bother us one bit end of the day you don't spend all day in the room, Air con in the bedroom and other in the kitchen/living room/bedroom the room was very big and spacious and everything you needed there. Was cleaned everyday and fresh towels everyday too. The breakfast was a buffet and you could eat as much as you wanted. Snack bar at hotel is nice and very sensible in price..Go to the cake shop next door they had beautiful cakes and we had lunch there on the last day u can sit at the back of shop and over looks the pool.
Some people used to Que for sunbeds at 8 am as doors wouldn't open until 9 am we used to get down about 9.10 am and there were plenty of sunbeds left don't need to worry that there won't be any left.
Old town 10-15 minute walk and we used to get a taxi just outside the supermarket next door for 4 euros. We ate out every night and had amazing food. Best place was the Wild & Co at the end of the strip a steak house we paid 70 euros for a 2 course meal and 4 glasses of wine but was worth it is you really like your steak go there. and the Chinese over the road from wild & co was lovely to there is a little old man that stands out side to greet you.

Room Tip: If you like pool view get one but the standad of room are not great as they are a studio. But we enj...

Just returned from a 7 night stay in the Brisa Sol. Great location 15 mins walk to old town and new town or 3.90 euros in a taxi if you couldnt be bothered walking. The hotel is right across from Mcdonalds, KFC, chinese if your looking for takeaway food and is next to the supermarket. Please try the little cake shop next door it is fantastic!!
The hotel itself was really clean and perfect for what we were looking for, I particularly liked the pool area as it was so relaxing and the pool itself was big. We were self catering and stayed in room 0014, the room again was extremely clean but could have done with a few touch ups and I didnt think it was as of 4 star standard, possibly because it was a studio and not a hotel room? I wouldnt pay a fortune for the accommodation if I was to go back, it was good but I was expecting 4 star standards when it came to the room and that didn't meet my expectations however, everything else ticked all the boxes.

Room Tip: Try and get a room on the ground floor facing the pool... they ahve sun loungers on their terraces

In May, we spent 4 days here and we were very pleasantly surprised with the apartments within the hotel. Our spacious apartment had a pool and sea view from the balcony. Beware of the bathroom tap as it can flood over very fast onto the floor!! The location was excellent (between old and new towns), the little train was outside the door or taxis were available if you prefer - Stop 4 of route (€4 per day each or €2.50 per journey). The apartment block is just next to the largest supermarket in Albuferia (large Dunnes/Tesco) so perfectly located for our self catering needs. Towels were provided with all utilities available. In addition, we had access to all hotel amenities. Pool was amazing with plenty of loungers and towels available, without having to be up at 8am! All was very clean, not noisy and there was a nice pool side bar and cafe. There were lots of activities, should you wish to persue them, Indoor Pool/Games Room/Squash Court and Tennis Court. Located across the road from Mc Donalds, where there was free Wi-Fi connection. The fabulous Patisserie next door to the hotel was open late and served delicious desserts or just a coffee if you wish. Definitely recommend these apartments for everyone and we look forward to returning.

We stayed at the Brisa Sol apartments for ten days in August. After normally going all inclusive we were a little apprehensive about going self catering. However we needn't have worried. It was fantastic.

On arrival we were shown to our room which was very large, clean and spacious. The kitchen area was lovely with a full sized fridge, microwave and hob. We went with our two daughters aged 9 and 11. They slept in the bedroom and my husband and I had the sofa bed. This was surprisingly very comfortable! There were two large TV's, one in each room with a good selection of English channels and even cBeebies for the younger kids! The maids came in every day and cleaned the room leaving fresh towels.

Next door to the hotel was a massive supermarket where you could get everything you possibly needed. It was fairly cheap too. We used to make up our own lunches and take them down to the pool every day, along with our own drinks which made it cheaper. The only niggle I have is that the doors to the pool do not open until 9am but from as early as 8am people start to queue in the hall and down the stairwell. By half eight it was packed with people then when the doors did open, everyone ran like mad people to get a sun lounger! It was absolutely crazy and if it hadn't been so annoying, it would have been funny.

However the pool was lovely and clean and the pool area was great. The staff at the hotel couldn't do enough to help and were very polite. It was a ten minute stroll into the Old Town for meals etc at night but a very pleasant stroll. There was a McDonalds, KFC and chinese takeaway all opposite the hotel as well.

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at the Brisa Sol and the only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because of the 'sunbed' situation which was annoying. However you did get the chance while waiting to meet and chat to lots of people you might not have done anyway. Would definitely recommend this as a fairly cheap but good family holiday.

Room Tip: Pool view rooms are probably better.

This was our second visit (the first being 16 years earlier) and I was delighted to see that the apartments and hotel in general where just as good as I had remembered. The apartments are lovely and spacious and could easily accommodate 4 adults (which is a rare thing indeed !) with plenty of storage space and a functional kitchen. They were serviced everyday which was unexpected but very nice. We got automaticallt upgraded to a pool view which was most welcome.
Yes, the queue for the sunbeds is a total pain but there is just no getting away from this problem wherever you go in the Med and the Brits are on tour. We all know the problem and we all contribute to it.
The old town of Albufeira is the best compared to The Strip and there are some really great restaurants and excellent value for money too. A meal for 2 with a starter and main course each plus a bottle of good Portugese wine was coming in at about £35.00 to £40.00 and this included meat and fish dishes which are never cheap. As with all other reviews the pastry shop as part of the hotel is fantastic and you should try the french toast - excellent.
All-in-all a great place to stay at a great location - enjoy.

Room Tip: Yes a pool view is nice if you can get one.
