Checked int this Hotel after a bad experience at another booked 4 night at reception where the lady on the desk was most helpful, she presented us with a quote from the tarrif on reception but after a few minutes haggle we got an excellant rate for a top class appartment, The appartment was as large as any we have ever had abroad, fully equipped and spotless, sea and pool view perfect

Location excellant for Albeferiu Old Town, but the best restaurant is on the Corner :Don Cap:

Will return with family in the Summer Season

Room Tip: They show rooms on arrival it's your choice all seemed good

Just got back, this was our third time to albufeira and probably the best. The hotel Almar was perfectly positioned, close enough to the old town (about 5mins walk) but yet far enough away so that the hustle and bustle of the nightlife didnt disturb.
We booked a studio, yes the couches turn into your bed, no they cant be moved as they are in a fixed position, but they were surprisingly very comfortable. There was plenty of room in the studio, table, chairs, proper oven and hob, fridge and toaster, cups, glasses etc. Everything you need for s/catering. Not that i did cook tho. The balcony had a view of the gardens, was large enough with a patio table and chairs. Being in the basement of the hotel meant that the room stayed quite cool, although the sun would come round and stay from about 4pm til 6pm. Which was good for us. Now i know you dont go on holiday to watch television but it comes in handy when killing the dead time whilst getting ready for your night out. They have satalite t.v, you get movies, history, discovery, fox, music etc....which was a nice touch and all free. No paying for the remote.
When i booked i wasnt told i had to give credit card details when checking in, this acts as a deposit incase of any damage, but you get that back when you check out. Lucky enough i had taken my credit card, dont know what happens if you havent got one, but check with the holiday company before you go....on the beach failed to tell me this.
The only downside to the studio was that the was only one mirror in the bathroom fixed to the wall....so it was a bit awkward trying to get ready while my fella was in the shower as it kept steaming up...but i managed to muddle through.
the grounds are ample for the size of the hotel, well kept and a decent size pool. the view from the pool is panaramic, looking straight towards the sea and the old town towards the left.
I paid £47 for 2people for 3 nights for the studio room, do i have any complaints......NO.....would i stay again.....Most definately....although next time i will book a one bed sea-view. Great value hotel, safe and secure....give it a go!!

Just back from a 4 night break, staying at Almar with my hubby. We paid £25 a night for the apartment through Laterooms and got a large 1 bedroom apartment for the two of us, with good kitchen facilities and a table and chairs for 6. Apartments have obviously been there a while because they have a great view from the balcony, but are a little tired in places. Everything was very clean, and the staff were very attentive. Only complaint we had was on our last night, when we encountered the noise from the pump running the sprinklers. We were 2 floors above where the pump was running but the whole apartment was vibrating, and my husband had to go and ask if it could be turned off around 1am (it had already been on for around an hour). The pump appears to run from about midnight until whenever, so it might make more sense to run it around 10pm so not to disturb sleep. Unfortunately we were due to be picked at at 5.45am and were trying to get a few hours sleep!

The apartments are a 5 minute walk from the escalators down to the beach, and very handy for Old Town, where there are lots of nice restaurants and bars. We also took a taxi along to the Strip, but we preferred Old Town. Really nice area to stay at, not sure how busy it would be in the height of the season, but great for a few days break early on and lucky for us the weather was really good.

Room Tip: studios look over a side garden, but the 1 bed rooms look over the sea so pay the extra for the view and a bedroom.

Just got back from the Algarve, first time I've been, will definitely go back. Couldn't have asked for a better place. When I opened the door to the apartment my daughter and I couldn't get over the size. Yes they are basic and could probably do with a refurb, but I think they are excellent value for money. At the end of the day all we needed was somewhere to sleep, get washed and have a bit of breakfast. You couldn't ask for a better place than on the balcony overlooking the pool, sea and old town. The bedrooms were spacious too and I could even see the sea when lying in bed, there are not many places I have been when I could do that. Pool was too cold to use, but the beaches are so close and beautiful it didn't really matter. Location of the apartments is very good too. Close enough to everything but far enough away that you don't get disturbed by lots of noise, although we were there over Christmas and it was very quiet. Found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Apartment was cleaned 5 out of the 7 days were there. Found a wonderful local portguese restaurant too. Just looking at the prices now to see when we can co back.
