“Good for toddler as pool small, clean and not crowded.”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

Big, clean appartment. Washing machine useful with toddler, tho lacking utensils. Wooden spoon, sharp knife and corkscrew would have been handy. Lovely big garden to front of appartment. Pool smallish but clean and our two year old loved it. Would like to have been nearer the beach tho. Overall positive experience.

We were a party of two children aged 11 & 8 yrs plus three adults & arrived at these apartments around 1am on 29th July 2013. The apartment was a 2 bedroom which was fine, clean with adequate facilities with maid service the only draw back for me was the location of my bedroom which was at ground level & on a busy road lots of traffic & noisy people arriving back after nights spent in the old town. The weather was very hot & i had to leave the windows open all night although the shutters provided privacy and a little air.The pool area was clean & had a snack bar with friendly service also never crowded, All in all a good budget holiday apartment. The local area was easily accessible although a bit hilly- with Erin's Isle pub not far away serving food all day at reasonable prices. There was a free shuttle bus to take you to the old town three times daily but not on a Sunday, the old town is about a ten minute drive away & costs 4 Euro 95 cents by taxi to get you back to the apartments. No air conditioning so be aware - TV in apartment which picked up English channels.

Room Tip: Request an apartment away from the road !

Just back from 12 nights at Villa Alba. Overall not too bad, apartment was a good size, plenty room and plenty storage space. However, very dated and in need of decoration and upgrade. Cleanliness was good, cleaners visited every day. Location is okay, although you need to be fit as its on a steep hill. 10 min walk to the strip, 20-25 to the beach, that said taxis are plentiful and cheap. Great little pool, with poolside bar. Major disappointment was the noise, we were there as a family and found ourselves surrounded by teenage groups all round, so no chance of a decent nights sleep. Understand that teenagers will be teenagers, however when we asked to be moved we were met with a very unhelpful and uncaring attitude at reception. In hindsight should have contacted our rep, but there you go. Overall would not recommend Villa Alba as family holiday accomodation. If you are a loud, arrogant and obnoxious teenager however, perfect!

Booked in late April 13 and checked in on 24th June.
Man on reception was very cheerful and helped us all the way to our apartment when we arrived at 1am. We were very surprised at how large our apartment was. Big bedroom (requested double bed but think they must only have twin) lovely clean kitchen which looked brand new. Massive lounge and dining area and a large balcony (which is why I had booked) with a table and two sun loungers looking out over the swimming pool. Over all we were really I,pressed for the price we had paid.
Maids called nearly every day. Lady at the pool bar was lovely and cheerful, we didn't eat there but saw lots of people that did.
Apartments are well located for a short 5 minute walk to the main strip in Albufeira which is very lively with lots of bars and clubs. We had a great mixed kebab at the steak house which is about halfway down the strip above a bar (you can't miss it!).
Supermarket is just a few minutes away and this was important as we were self catering. Kitchen is really well equipped.
The apartments have a free shuttle bus which runs at 9am, 1pm and 5pm every day apart from Sunday which takes you to fisherman's beach and the old town. Or there is a little train thingy that you can catch every 20 minutes fro the strip down the road.
The old town and fisherman's beach are definitely worth a visit in the day and at night. We found a wonderful traditional Portuguese restaurant down a little side street it's called The Travessa. Garlic prawns are amazing!! We also found a lovely restaurant/cafe up on the hill where the lift is.
Finally don't bother with Albufeira marine!! It's not a lively at night as we expected!! There's only about 3 bar/restaurants. Salsa bar do the best monitor cocktails I've tasted in a long time!
That's all I can think of for now!

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view. Remember there is no air con... Did bother us but could be very hot in peak sum...

We had a first floor (top) large 2 bedroom apartment but the whole place smelled damp which in a country that has a good climate is a poor show. Tiled floors make any noise worse so the kids downstairs echoed and the road noise didn't help with a good nights sleep. The snack bar and pool area where nice and the place was clean. The design of the complex was odd with steps to the apartment from the road and pool access via the street and a locked gate.Be aware the property is on a hill so any mobility issues will be a problem. Won't return but if you only pay bottom dollar you will probably be ok here, remember no air con in the summer will be unpleasant.

Just got back from Vila alba , we where allocated an apartment at the bottom of cardiac hill and who ever named it the are not kidding if you have any walking or breathing trouble make sure you get one near the reception or along the right hand side of the hotel if you go down towards room 234 you need to be fit, our room was ok but the smelly is terrible but we did get a whiff when we opened the door and thought it was just cause it was early in the season not so, cleaners come in and leave the windows open but it was still there at night we couldn't even put clothes in the wardrobe as our clothes smelt of damp , the seats in the living room had black damp on them and the cushions also but we where only there for a week but by Wednesday the smell was worse we just left doors and windows open which isn't very safe that's the negative the positive was the pools ok the pool bar and a lovely lady are very good , the top of the strip is close but because it is up a long hill is very queit you have to go to the cross roads for the start of the busy strip at the top you can get a very good breakfast and dinner in the English kitchen and at a good price , the old town is a very nice place to go lots of things to see and do loads of bars and food places ,the strip isn't what I would call family friendly lots of hen and stag do's , for our gang of 10 adults and kids it was better in the old town but every one is different . Hope this is help full

Room Tip: Stay round the reception

stayed here for 1 week 12/5/13, we had a one bedroom apartment, it was very spacious, although a little dated and a bit tired looking, cleanliness was ok, could have been a bit better but could have been a lot worse, a great size balcony, 2 sunbeds and table and chairs, a really good place to sunbath, gardens around the pool kept very nice and pool itself was good,
the actual location wasn't great, about 30 min walk to beach and about an hour to the old town, but was only about 15 min walk to the strip, which was a bit to loud and noisy for us, so we were glad our apartment was far enough away for us not to here any noise.
plenty of good restaurant with reasonably priced meals.

Room Tip: top floor are the best as you have know one looking down on you
