This was our second stay at this superb Thomson Gold hotel. We stayed for 14 nights on the third floor overlooking the pool. The balcony was too hot to sit on during the afternoon (so be warned) but the view is lovely, the room clean with plenty of space. A room safe is available at a small charge but the fridge is expensive to rent. The hotel gardens are beautiful, secure and safe as only accessible through the hotel, lovely to sit in if you don't want to sit around the pool and with plenty of shade and ample sunbeds. Around the pool bar there were new rattan furniture, all very comfortable once you got down onto it but difficult for some to get up from as too low, bearing in mind a lot of elderly residents. Also there was very little shade over this furniture so it was rather too hot to sit on and remained unused in preference of the shaded upright chairs and tables. Without exception the staff were all very friendly and made you feel special. The food is absolutely gorgeous. Nobody can say there is not enough choice. Presentation exceptional! Angelo the Head Chef and his team go out of their way to make a varied and delicious menu. A lot of banter in the dining room with the staff giving it a relaxed and friendly feel. The Thomson team and reps were SO good. The entertainment team are lovely and not pushy if you don't want to join in on the activities, which some people don't, but supportive for those who do. The nighttime entertainment has vastly improved since our last visit but a couple of the acts were not of a good standard, others excellent. We could not get BBC or ITV in our rooms which we were told was due to the channels blocking their broadcasts (and no this was not just to get us in the bar - it was the same elsewhere). However the hotel managed to show both channels in the TV lounge. This became quite crowded during several relevant World Cup fixtures but gave it atmosphere. The bar staff were super efficient and friendly. Negatives: 1. bathrooms need updating, getting a bit tired and cracked, can be difficult for some to climb in and out of the bath; 2. Excursions not too exciting but due to lack of suitable places; 3. Don't bother with a trip to Albufeira market! We were left for 3 hours for a trip to the 'gypsy' market which took ten minutes to walk around! Had we know what type of market it was we wouldn't have bothered. So walked in from there to the old town which takes about 30 minutes from the site. We will go to this hotel again the next time we want a truly relaxing break without expecting too much physical exertion!

Room tip: If you don't want the sun in the afternoon ask for a room on the front of the hotel rather than overlooking the pool.

Holiday June 2014 - This Hotel is in a fantastic setting, the garden and pool areas are great, no putting your towel down at early dawn, plenty of room for everyone. We placed ourselves in the gardens just off the Pool each day. If you want peace, quite and a touch of class you get it here. The only thing that lets this Hotel down is the evening meal, the Salads are great about 30 different kinds of them each evening, but the hot meal was just tasteless and repetitive, the meat over cooked and dry and vegetables cooked to death, such a shame. We ended up eating out 3 times on a 10 day holiday. The Hotel Staff, Thomson Reps, Entertainment Team and not forgetting Victor the local expert based at the Hotel (wealth of information and a lovely man),they just could not do enough for you. If you are a beach lover you have to go through the Hotel next door to get to it, but that's not to bad and you get to see some of the 168 acres it is set in for nothing. We had a Pool view (an extra £80) but worth it. Bars and restaurants a short walk from the Hotel and again very friendly. Local shops shut by 8 pm, but the Supermarket opens till 9 pm. This Hotel would have got a 5 rating from us but only got 4 because of the evening meal. Hol's D Agua a 25 minutes walk and worth the stroll, quaint and nice Italian Restaurant, taxi cost about €4.75, walked it back to the Hotel.

Room tip: Pay the extra for Pool View

Dear Guests,

Thank you for your review. We are always keen to listen to our guests as we are well aware that only with our guests views and opinions we can provide required services and hopefully also improve them. This is our aim at all times.

We also carry out the market research on all our service as well as getting all the marker research results from our main Tour operator. Both are showing us that food quality and food variety are scoring very highly but we are still aiming to get even better. We do appreciate and understand that different people have also got different tastes and requirements and the two more difficult points are always the food and the entertainment. Have to say that there are some options to resolve most of the food issues.

On the second day of our guests stay with us everybody receives a welcome letter from myself where I am asking all our valued guests to let us know immediately if we are not meeting any of their expectations. We are sure we can resolve most of them and after resolving the issue - our guests can enjoy their holiday in full.
Our staff is with our guests all the time including our Chef or Sub-chef who are at all meal times in the restaurant and not in the kitchen. I am always spending some time in the dinning room as well and if you can really not find anything on the buffet that could be up to your taste - you just need to ask the Chef and he can always prepare something that you will be able to enjoy as well.

I am very pleased to see that you were happy with all other aspects in the Falesia Hotel and its surroundings. Hope the above explanation would be of some help.
We are hoping you will be visiting us sometime in the future again and we are very much looking forward to welcoming you back.

Kind regards

This was the sixth time we have used a Thomson Gold Hotel and easily the best yet, having listened to other people sing the Falesia 's praises we booked two weeks and boy did we enjoy both the hotel and the location. The Portuguese people are so friendly and laid back never once did anything be a problem to them and nearly all spoke very good English.
The hotel has everything anyone could need to make your stay perfect, great food, lovely grounds, super pool both indoor and out a Thomson staff team determined to keep you amused and decent entertainment in the evening. I was so pleased as some other family came with us who had never done"Gold" before and they were so impressed they will use them in the future.
My only little niggle is the charge for the use of the fridge which in a hot climate is I feel an absolute must and not a luxury to be paid for !!!
I would go back to the Falesia without a seconds hesitation it is a worthy winner among lots of Gold gems.

Room tip: We had a pool view room worth the extra. It's the luck of the draw as size of rooms do vary by a couple of feet but not an insurmountable problem.

My husband and I returned last week from a week's holiday at the Falesia, a wonderful Adult Only hotel. This is a Thomson Gold hotel and we had booked a Junior Suite which was just perfect, our room (No.224) was very spacious with a separate seating area and balcony, extras included - kettle with drinks replenished daily including bottled water,  a good sized fridge which proved very useful for keeping drinks cool, dressing gowns, slippers and room safe, there was plenty of wardrobe and drawer spaces.  The hotel is maintained to a very high standard and all the staff are very pleasant and will go out of their way to assist you.  The food is very good with meals served buffet style and themed nights, the selection is huge with choices to suit everyone's taste. Restaurant and bar service were exceptional.

The swimming pool is super and there are ample sunbeds.  The hotel grounds are beautiful with well kept garden areas as well as ponds with fish and frogs. There was however a shortage of parasols as we requested one but were told that they had all been distributed (we counted only approx. 8 parasols).

The entertainment team work very hard and have varied activities, they were extremely friendly but never pushy.  The evening shows were very professional especially 'The Bottles' (Beatles Tribute Band) and a Tina Turner Tribute act - these were some of the best shows we have seen, the resident duo were also very good with a varied repertoire.

The hotel runs a courtesy bus to the beach (approx. 4 times daily).  You can also book the bus to visit either Albefeira or Villemoura for a very reasonable fare from the hotel.

My only niggles were:  (1) The rooms needed updating especially the bathroom,  even though the rooms were extremely clean, some of the bathroom wall tiles in our room were cracked and the basin and bath taps were discoloured - they looked very tired and in need of modernising.   (2) The electric sockets were not close to any mirrors therefore awkward when drying/straightening hair.

I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday with very good food.  We will definitely return.

Room tip: Junior Suite, Room 224 well worth the extra.

Recently returned from our 5th visit to this wonderful hotel and have to say that they consistently maintain the highest standard of holiday accommodation with helpful staff who always go the extra mile to ensure the requirements of guests are met and often exceeded. All areas are kept spotlessly clean and the wide variety of food available ensures that only the unreasonable could not find something to suit.We were celebrating a significant anniversary during our stay and General Manager Carlos and his staff ensured that it was particularly memorable by their kindness in marking the occasion with a bottle of sparkling wine ( what a lovely gesture!)
The area is situated in a quiet area so is not for party animals but perfect for a quiet stress free break. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Room tip: Rooms to the rear of the hotel get more sunshine but those to the front are cooler and possibly better for sleeping during hotter season.
