The Falesia Hotel did not disappoint. We stayed for one week and the whole experience was excellent. Reception staff were efficient and helpful. We opted for a superior room which consisted of a separate bedroom, with a huge bed, and a lounge area . Free 2lts water daily and a bowl of fruit and 1/2 bottle wine on arrival. Two balcony's with views inland towards the hills which was very pleasant. Although the room faced the hotel car park, there was no problem with noise, as the landscaping, trees etc muffled any sound from motor vehicles.
The grounds were nicely planted, and the pool area was relaxing although the water cold at this time of year. There were no reserving of sunbeds that we could see. The indoor pool was fine.
The food was very good and brilliantly presented with interesting sculptures made from fruits. Plenty of choice and varied.
Although we found the seating area affixed to the walls far too low for the tables to eat comfortably, but the free standing tables were fine. There was unfortunately no quiet area around the bar as previously mentioned and you could get cheaper and quieter drinks at the local bars. Entertainment in the evenings was a little hit and miss and you either love or hate the Thompson reps, but generally they were not that bad.
We hired a car and the Algarve is beautiful and we really did see the real Portugal, by travelling to the villages. The beaches are fabulous, red cliffs soft sand and I thought plenty of sunbeds and cafes if needed.
You could walk to two beaches one accessible through the Pine Cliffs Resort next door and the other by walking along the road to the right of the hotel. Both take about 15 mins.
A few bars, cafes, shops and supermarkets all within a few minutes walk, providing cheaper lunches than the hotel. We were on a half board package.
All in all a terrific week and would recommend this hotel.

Have just returned from a four day break and cannot find anything negative to comment on.

This hotel is excellent, the staff were pleasant and friendly and very proffessional.
The food was very tasty and varied and the ambience of the restaurant perfect.

We had a superior room which was very nice and spacious, water, fruit and wine on arrival.

It was situated in a nice location and a short walk to the beach down many steps. We walked along the beach to Vilamoura one day and that took about one and a half hours. The marina there is stunning. (well worth the walk)

Entertainment in the hotel was faultless, the reps are very talented and great singers and every night different.
I would say this hotel should be a five star and we will definitely be returning in the near future.

I needed a break away for stress relief and found it at this hotel!
Immaculately kept throughout, attentive, courteous staff and beautifully presented tasty food.
As an adult only hotel, it was quiet...just what was needed. There was entertainment through the day provided by the Thompson's reps which we did not participate in (welly wanging and giant jenga etc) The evening entertainment was very professionally presented. Normally,it is not my sort of thing but I enjoyed it.
The pool was just perfect with towels provided by the hotel (refundable E10 each) There was also a poolside bar and a terrace dining area providing substantial snacks.
One of the beaches can be accessed by agreement with the Sheraton hotel next door. A hotel chap will do a guided tour through the grounds. This beach was beautiful...(blue flag) We did not have time to go to the Falesia beach. There is a courtesy bus 4 times a day. There are several day trips organised by Thompson's.
We checked out at noon but our flight was at 9.30, but we were able to remain by the pool and use a courtesy shower room with hair dryer and free towels.
We only went for 3 nights but I wish I had stayed longer. Will definitely go again!

Just returned from a 'Fantastic' short break at this lovely hotel. We returned this year after 2 weeks in February and we just wanted a week away, somewhere to relax with excellent food. If you want an honest review of this hotel this is one. I have to say there are a couple of previous reviews of this hotel (3 ratings) that really do not reflect accurately the experience. The Thomson rep shows were brilliant, something for everbody, If you dont like this hotel, then your either 'picky' or somebody who cannot be pleased. We stayed in a standard room in February which was lovely all usual comforts and rather large, this time we opted for a 'Superior; which was superb, free fruit and wine and bottled water provided every day. These rooms also have a sofa and are very comfortable. The service at this hotel is without a doubt the 'best' we have received at any hotel (and we have stayed in a few, better than the Dorchester!), everyone is helpful and the staff in the restaurant cannot be any more friendly, a true credit to the Thomson Gold collection. The food and restaurant at this hotel are stunning, there is always a large variety of choice from salads to meat and fish main courses and gorgeous desserts. Ok for veggies too because there are plenty of salads and pastas, seem people are just never satisfied!. Rory the rep at this hotel is extremely helpful and all the thompson team were superb, well done. Someone in the West end should sign up Cilla, she is fantastic entertainer and extremely talented, 'Anouk' are wonderful, they engaged the croud and the singer Maria has a beautiful voice and is very attractive, supported by a brilliant guitarist,Chris, a pleasure. There is a reason why this hotel has been voted 'the Best Thomson Gold' for a couple of years and Algarve 'Best Hotel', dont be fooled by any bad reviews, this is a gorgeous hotel for a relaxing break., Well done to everyone.

We booked into the falesia after having read reports on trip advisor and looked at the Thomson brochure. On arrival, the room we were given was above the car park, which was noisy. We complained, and the Thomson rep got our room changed quickly and easily – we had a fantastic view of the Portuguese mountains!
The room was adequate and was cleaned every day with fresh towels. The bathroom was a bit dated, with cracks in the tiles. Staff were pleasant, polite, friendly and helpful. There’s two buses that run from the hotel, but the one to Vilamoura only runs once a week.
It’s quite a small hotel. We endured two and half days of torrential rain, and everyone was stuck reading in reception and in the one and only bar – which felt a bit claustrophobic. There’s a TV room too.
The indoor pool and Jacuzzi became quite crowded too. Beware, the indoor pool gets very deep very quickly. It starts at 1.4 metres.
The garden is pretty and picturesque – you can walk round it in thirty seconds! Plenty of sun loungers, but we felt the daytime entertainment was a little intrusive – after all, people come here for peace and quiet!
There’s nothing much to do and see, except walk to the beaches, which are lovely.
Albuferia was a big disappointment – full of tacky tourist shops, selling basically what you’d find in Blackpool – silly signs, inflatable dolphins, T-shirts, ect. We didn’t feel we saw the real Algarve at all. Not every Brit likes boozing and football.
Food – not a great deal of choice if you’re vegetarian (as we are) however we managed to choose between a hot main meal or salad every day. As previous reviewers have said, it could get repetitive after a week or so.
The puddings and cakes are out of this world! Absolutely gorgeous, and the clever and creative food art is really something special.
Breakfasts – nothing to complain about but could have been more choice of cereals. There’s two supermarkets near, plus restaurants and bars too.
Remember there isn’t any smoking bans there, so if you go out to eat it can be irritating swallowing smoke along with your meal. (Take note, Buddy’s!) There are no non- smoking areas in restaurants and cafes.
Our big tip: To find the nearest beach, buy a local map from a local shop. The one the Thomson rep will give you is absolutely hopeless – no help at all.
We didn’t stay up to watch any of the evening shows, so we cannot comment on their quality. The TV had BBC1, ITV 1, and BBC2.
In-between the rain, the weather was absolutely fantastic and it was a relaxing, quiet break. But we like to have more things to see on holiday, rather than sit in the sun all day. We’re glad to be back home!
