Just stayed at this hotel for a week as a couple, read quite a few reviews before arriving of which some were good, average and bad. Well all we can say is that for the money we paid for the accommodation (we only had B&B, has that is our preference no matter where we stay, has we like to eat out where and when it suits ourselves) it was very good value for money. The location is simply great (in the Old Town of Albuferia - not near The Strip, which is a Taxi ride away) in that every room has it's own balcony (albeit smallish) overlooking the fabulous beach. The room was clean and cleaned every day with a clean change of towels. The bathroom was clean and looked has though it had recently been re-tiled, although admittedly the bath was a bit on the dated side but never-the-less clean. Breakfast was mainly continental style with some English breakfast food (baked beans, tomatoes, scrambled, boiled & fried eggs and streaky bacon). I have to admit the EB wasn't up to much but hey your in Portugal. Some reviews say the hotel is dated and mainly elderly guest, and that is also quite true but again clean and only a few teenagers, but still for the money we paid well worth it especially if you like a beach holiday. So overall you have to consider what you want and what do you want to pay. Personally we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, we had such a relaxing time.

Just got back from a weeks holiday and would recommend this hotel to anyone who is going to Albufeira. The hotel is ideally situated for all the pubs and Restaurants being a 2 minute walk from the main square.
Yes the rooms we had could do with updating slightly but suited our purpose. Large and spacious and a view to die for.
We stopped b&b and always found enough to feel full. (forget the sausages though they are rank :-) )
Staff are very polite and helpful with rooms cleaned daily.
When we ever go back to Portugal this would be our 1st choice hotel.
Take a chance I'm sure you won't regret it.

The positives: Fantastic position, right on the sea front. Spotlessly clean. All rooms have a sea view. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable.
The negatives: We were on a B&B basis and breakfast was okay, plenty of it but repetitious with a lack of fresh fruit/ fruit juice. We ate dinner in the restaurant one evening, again plentiful but nothing special, and menu was a variation on a theme every night. Beach bar was very expensive and if you sit on the comfy chairs even more! There was entertainment in the lounge every night but very repetitious. There is a very small indoor pool otherwise its the beach. If you opt for a couple of sun beds it will cost you 15 euros a day with no concession for hotel guests. Bathroom needed a refurb
I'm not sure what constitutes a four star rating but I don't think this hotel is quite there, it suited us for a week but I wouldn't go back

My first visit to the Algarve was a real pleasure and this well maintained 1960s architectural award winning hotel delivered as promised. Large comfortable rooms each with its own sea view balcony.
The beach bar and restaurant was always welcoming with two menus it allowed you to snack or go a la carte . Breakfast in the 5th floor restaurant was fine and the bar alongside was comfortable and service very good. As a family we all enjoyed the indoor swimming pool next to the beach bar, although small it was quiet and great to cool off each day.
With a relatively short trip to Faro airport it was easy to get to and its location gave the beach on one side and the town at the back of the top floor or via the tunnel at ground floor was close but did not impinge on the hotel.

Room Tip: All have sea view so apart from level above the beach no real issues
