Paid 200 for a week here through Travel Republic and couldn't really knock it for the price...apart from the hassle of the luggage allowance. I weigh 12 stone and was 2kg over, 12 quid. 25 klem Fat guy behind me pays zip - how does that work? Anyway, here ya go:

1. The hotel was built in 1965 and it shows! Take your own shower head, the ones fitted are no better than a garden hose...

2. No screaming kids, noisy teenagers, stags, hens etc. -suited us fine...

3. Book your car through easycar.com, cheaper than the 64 euro transfer fee the hotel charges - we paid less than 50 quid for a new Polo with a/c, via Hertz. Watch out for the add ons at the desk, though, don't need 'em...

4. Parking is a nightmare, none at hotel, we had to park 10 mins walk away...

5. Location of the hotel is one of the best I've ever stayed in, beach and sea in front of you, great view from all rooms, and town behind you. Attendant on the beach stiffs you 15 euros for a bed 'n' brolly...

6. Breakfast finishes at 10.00am so you need to be up early to eat, food was OK, usual euro stuff...

7. Lots of nice places in town to eat breakfast for around 6 euros, on the balcony at the Bank and Sir Harrys pub, both on the square, are good. Take a bottle of HP sauce...

8. Lots of touts, hustlers, beggars, gyppos etc. round the square so watch out...

9. Good bands on at the Rock Bar, Bank has good turns on too...

10. Beer is 3 euros a pint, tabs 34 for 200, wine 2-3 a bottle. Meals out are around 40 for 2, all kindsa food, chicken piri piri and cataplan are overrated, though...

If you got this cheap you'll love it - If you paid over 500 from MyTravel or Thomas Cook you'll feel ripped...

Occupying a great location facing the sea this was possibly one of the first hotels to be built in Albufiera. Unfortunately it is long overdue for an update; though the fifth floor bar retains ample ‘retro charm’.

The twin bedded rooms all have a terrace and face the sea. Simply furnished, and clean. Breakfast was not outstanding, though a reasonable selection was on offer.

Our stay in December meant that it was full of pensioners escaping the British winter. Some were staying a few weeks, others months. Quite frankly, our two days were enough.

Crammed full of "over 70's, felt out of place. many of the elderly guests there for the whole winter.

No tea making facilities, no water on table, had to purchase at exhorbitant price in restaurant and not "allowed" to take it back to your room. Wine for the table was approx £10 - £15 for a very ordinary bottle.

Food plentififul but unadventuous. Salad cart made up for it. May be different in the summer. It is beautifully clean and the staff friendly and courtous. Lift goes right down to beach.

Its does however, have the benefit of its location, all rooms look out to the sea and it is in the central of the old town. Quite a lot of steps to undertake when walking round the town. A "train" runs to take visitors to the new marina (not finished yet though)

BE WARNED! PARKING IS NIGH IMPOSSIBLE AND THE ROADS ARE JUST ALLEYWAYS.

Old hotel in need of updating and refurb , Guests average age 79+ so felt as though was staying at a retirement / nursing home, conversation as all were english was about the weather and who had / was staying the longest or who had got the best bargain. Hotel does NOT warant 4* food ok, nothing to write home about, place populated with russians touting for buisness, and all staff apeared to be Russian including in the hotel. rooms need modernising as does restaurant no porter no mini bar no parking. old town now modern so spoilt a bit , new town new so cant say miuch else about it. out and about people warm and friendly, prices lower than home but was out of season Would go again to portugal but would pick a better more modern hotel with better facilities. Location did make it though as was sea facing and located on the front / beach.

My opinions only so no offence meant.
