We have just returned from a two week stay at the Rocamar. The staff where very helpful and friendly. The location is the strong point with wonderful views and you can easily walk into the old town. The dining room needs another manager to make the best of it.
The bar is great, but too much football television spoiled the atmosphere.
The view from the balcony made the holiday for us, slight problem the should be fixed was the water from the swimming pool splashing over sometimes!

We have just returned from a week in The Rocamar. The location is beautiful. I have never stayed anywhere nicer as far as views are concerned. Bathroom was first class. Room nice. It is near shops bars etc and there is everything you need for a beach/sunshine holiday. The staff were just OK
Food just OK too. I would reccommend going bed and breakfast as you can buy the evening meal for 12 euro and there are a lot of nice eating places around
My hot tip would be to bring a travel kettle, paper cups and tea/coffee There is no kettle in the room and tea/coffee costs 2 euro a cup all round the resort so you could spend a fair bir of your holiday budget on this if like me you need your fix. There was no tea/ciffee provided after the evening meal
Over all we had a nice break apart from the weather which was awful- don't reccommend Portugal in Feb!!!

Myself and my husband stayed at the Rocamar Hotel in August 2009. The rooms were lovely, but wished we had paid the extra for the sea view. Location was great, practically on the beach, and only few minutes walk from the old town. Hotel itself was very clean and well run. Breakfast was nice, but it was the same things every morning- a bit of variety wouldnt go astray. The one negative thing I will say is the staff are not the most pleasant to deal with. Very abrupt and rude, hence we didnt spend many evenings in the hotel bar - and also the entertainment was rubbish (one man and his keyboard). But all in all the hotels was really nice and we really enjoyed our stay there- mainly for the convenient location. Would defo go back again.

The Rocamar appears to be a nice hotel. Dont be fooled. Miserable staff -- from the front desk reception to the waiters -- ensure guests have a horrible holiday. I arrived for supper 10 minutes before the restaurant shut down only to be yelled at by a waiter, who then chased me to the buffet still screaming at me. He was like a dog barking at my heels. The front reception desk staff were so rude when I complained about my room and asked to change, that I ended up leaving after one night instead of staying the week as planned. Life is too short to be bullied by miserable hotel workers. (Note: Below I say there is no fitness centre -- that is because I don't consider four machines in a windowless closet to be a fitness centre. ) What a horrible hotel all around.

We booked this hotel for the view and wow, what a view, surely the best in town, from our room we could see over the town, miles up the coast and all the fabulous beach. We almost booked the Sole e Mar as it was 4 stars but although its right on the beach its not high up so doesent get the same views. Have to admit the food wasnt great but it was certainly adequate, previous reviewers have suggested just have b & b which is probably right. We heard a few grumbles from other guests which we really didnt think justified and think they had chosen the wrong type of hotel, this is a quiet little hotel but its quite stylish and exactly what we wanted. Room was spacious, well decorated, good bathroom, lovely soft pillows and towels. Albufeira is very pleasant out of season, heard it can get rowdy in summer so wouldnt come then, weather was sunny and around 20 degrees every day, people sunbathing on beach and some still swimming in sea .
