“Fabulous Views”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

We have just returned from our holiday and stayed at the Rocamar Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel is away from the main hustle and bustle but close enough to walk into and we were in the main busy square within 4-5 minutes. The views from the dining room in the hotel are fantastic. The breakfast was more than adequate with a selection of hot and cold food and always sufficient available. Continental breakfast, full English, breads, fruit juices and self service coffee machine. Seating was available outside to let you take in the brilliant views. We had room service every day with fresh towels and bed making. Staff were very helpful and friendly and nothing was ever a problem. We visited the spa which was also a lovely treat. Nice hotel and we would definitely return.

Just back from 2 great week at the Rocamar. Came here a few years back and I must say the service and attitude is so much better than before. All staff are great, helpful and friendly. If i must moan about anything, as food, rooms and staff are great, is this continued problem of towels on sun beds around the pool. This hotel has limited beds and those who have rooms leading directly on to this area think they all belong to them. towels on beds and chairs by 7am latest, one couple managed to save 6 beds a day for friends not even at the hotel!!! The worst bit about this practice is when they then go out for over 2 hours, we sat next to a couple who went down into the old town for lunch! The management do have a notice but they would be better off removing towels after no occupancy of 45 mins to give a fair chance to other Hotel users. Apart from that, great - we will be back.

Room Tip: Sea view - if you want a sun bed ask for 3rd floor sea view!! if not sea view 5th floor

We stayed here for a couple of days in March with family and friends. The weather wasn't brilliant but we still managed to have a good time. The Hotel is literally a stones throw from the beach and is very convenient if you are keen to hit the beach for a bit of sun. We would definitely recommend you going for the sea-view rooms if possible since the alternative rooms offer a less inspiring view (derelict buidling!).

The hotel pool, though small, was clean and well kept. Make sure to bring your own towel though as towels aren't provided for pool use.

We tried out the spa and found the therapist to be very friendly and welcoming. The spa area itself is relatively small and intimate, with a jacuzzi that fits a maximum of 3 people, a steam room that fits only 2, and a sauna that also fits only 2 people. However, we couldn't compain since the use of the facilities is free, and even though it was small, because we visited during off-peak season the spa was quiet and we were able to make full use of the facilities without having to fight for space. This was just the ticket for our relaxing holiday.

The hotel offered a complimentary buffet breakfast that had a good selection of hot and cold food, and they had a decent variety that kept us happy during our short stay. Make sure you get there early though since it is popular and gets pretty busy.

We also had lunch at the hotel twice during our 3 days there, and the food was pretty good, especially the grilled sardines (yum!), but the only down side is that service was slow and the food took a while to be served. Other than that we would recommend eating here as we found the quality of their food to be a lot better than some of the other places we tried.

All in all, we would recommend this hotel. It was great value; is in a great location - just off the beach and very close to the old town; food was good; staff were friendly; and spa facilities (excl treatments) were free and in decent order.

Room Tip: Worth paying a little extra for the sea-view room.

Just back from our first ever visit to Portugal Stayed from May 28th-June 6th, weather was perfect. Chose this hotel as we wanted to be close to the Old Town and it was perfect, 2 minutes to walk to the main square. Had emailed the hotel in advance to double check we had a room looking on to the beach and advised the trip was to celebrate our Ruby Weddiing anniversary. On arrival there was a bottle of champagne on ice waiting for us in the room, a lovely gesture on their part which was greatly appreciated. Room 418 was a good size, clean and had a lovely view. Meals were good. although at first we were a bit unsure due to the fact we are normally all inclusive and have picked hotels with a wide choice as we are a bit picky but once we checked out the options always found something we liked. I now think it is a better idea to have a bit less choice as it will cut down on waste. People can be quite guilty of that on holiday thinking they have paid for it, so what. I had checked out the reviews before we travelled and of course the negative reviews are the ones that people remember more but I disagree with the bad reviews. We found the staff pleasant, helpfull and very hard working. Maybe sometimes they did not smile when they were very busy but they are trying to consentrate on what people want, remember we are speaking a different language too. I find if you treat people properly they will treat you the same way. We had a lovely stay at the Rocamar and will certainly be back..

Our 3rd stay as the Rocamar Beach Hotel was fantastic. The value for a Sea View Room so close to the beach is amazing. Our room was spacious and cleaned every day.

The hotel is a minute or two from the beach (via a lift or stairs) and a 5 minute stroll into the Old Town. There are lots of restaurants and bars (for most tastes) in the Old Town.

The hotel appears to be having a bit of a facelift, the halls were being decorated while we were there. So our hopes for next times visit will be even higher.

Room Tip: I strongly recommend a Sea View Room, be careful booking on the 3rd floor as some of the rooms back...

We have just got back from a stay at this hotel and were not sure when we arrived. The road by the main enterance looked a little rough with an old condemned building covered with graffiti over the road :s. However, we were pleasantly surprised when we walked through the main doors and it is beautiful and modern.
The views from this hotel are amazing (of the coastline) and quite breathtaking. Only a short walk from the lift which takes you to the beach and about a ten minute walk to the marina. Equally a 5 to 10 minute walk to the old town square which was lovely.
Overall I would reccommend this hotel! The staff are sooooooooooooooo nice and we would certainly go back again! The only thing to consider is that if you are a tea/ coffee drinker like me, there isn't a kettle in the room. Also, we stayed in room 517, which, although it was nice, did not have a great view from the balcony..... probably best to pay a little extra for a sea view room :)

Thanks Rocamar for a fabulous stay.... we will certainly be back.

Room Tip: avoid 3rd floor, book a sea view room x
