Six of us went for a wee 5 day break just to get away, we came back on the 28th October an could'nt fault the hotel. We were a bit worried with a few of the reviews we read about it but can honestly say we had a great time, the place was clean with maids in your room every day, the staff were all pleasent and the food was good with plenty on the go. The location is fantastic and the walk along the beach to the old town is lovely. Dont worry about some of the reviews as I think some people pay 3* and expect a 5* hotel, just go an enjoy.

Hi all we were 4 women who booked this hotel for a weeks getaway before the xmas rushing about, but after we booked then seen some of the reviews we were a bit unsure about what we were going to but it was a great week. We were A/I and could not fault the food in anyway it was lovley and plenty of choices, staff all friendly and helpful at all times in the restaurant , reception and bars.Old town was great loads of little shops & plenty of nice cafes (3.25 euros in a taxi) We walked back along the beach one day fromold town it was about 25 mins & a lovley walk. The restaurant was busy at times but we didn't have long to wait for a table & staff were quick to clean & relay tables. resh towels everyday. Our rooms 315 & 316 overlooked the stage so we had a grat view of the night entertainment .Our rooms were very comfy & clean maid came everyday cleaned & gave fWe would recommend this hotel & would go again.

Arrived tired and groggy with coughs and colds about 2 a.m. in mid October 2010. Male receptionist was welcoming, courteous, sympathetic, soothing. Only 3 receptionists in many years of travelling have ever asked whether we had a good flight. This man commiserated even when receiving grouchy replies through gritted teeth about a delayed flight. An efficient 5* gem for the Hotel Auramar to treasure. We received a receipt for the refundable 10 euro deposit for the electronic key. He was so delightful and charming that we managed to smile back when he wished us a pleasant stay as we left in search of our room.
Twin bedroom was old but clean and dust free. Tiny balcony. Dust free Portuguese glazed pottery bedside lamps appeared newish. The bathroom was clean old fashioned rustic - patterned tiles around the mirror. Clean towels, hotel soap, lav roll, hot water for shower, clean sheets.
It seemed a long way with corridors and stairs to the breakfast buffet. Sea view. The room filled and 2 ladies asked to share our table. One said it was her 5th visit to the Auramar. Usual machine hot drinks -tea,coffee,chocolate and cereals, bread, fruit cocktail, yogurt, ham, cheese, tomato, eggs, continental bacon, etc. Fresh fruit. Searched in vain for chips...
En route back to the room the maid in the corridor replied Good morning to my Bom dia.
Having read the reviews I had booked this hotel because of the price and had worried ever since. Perhaps we were lucky not to experience some of the horrors of stag parties etc that other guests have endured but we had no problems and would visit again.

Just back from here, 7 of us stayed. The hotel staff were so pleasant, the food was delicious and fresh with local fish as well as a full ranage of dishes and plenty of drinks on offer too. The location can't be beaten right on a small cliff with views alonmg the beaches and bays.
The pool was chilly but big and a small indoor pool for kids and softies.
For early check out they provide a pic nic and if leaving late they offer you the all inclusive deal right until you leave, a nice touch.

The rooms are random if you dont book a sea view or balcony ranging from good rooms to amazing ones, its worth paying a bit extra for a better room probably if that means a lot to you.

Will be back

as others have said went feeling apprehensive, as I had suggested this hotel. We all sniffed when entering the reception area, smell was sometimes there.
Excellent value for money, we were all-inclusive. Went on a couple of coach trips from the hotel, took 40 mins before we left the town due to picking up other passengers.
Weather was brilliant, 21st - 28th October. Would think of returning next year.
Reception staff, ok did their job but nothing extra, eg smile.
We were a party of 7 and got a table reserved for us in the dining-room, without asking and was well looked after by waiter.
Food plentiful and could always fill a plate with a good variety.
Rooms perhaps could do with upgrading, but who can afford to do that in today's econonic climate, but were cleaned daily.
Would recommend it to others.

I was a bit apprehensive coming to this hotel, paying so little, i expected it to be a shack. I was very surprised when i got there. The cleaning fluid in the hotel gave off a bad smell but once it was gone, it was perfect. The shop in the hotel is quite handy, a bit on the expensive side but still handy enough. 10 of us went over...we had one of the more older rooms which was cleaned to the highest standard everyday and the maid were all so lovely. I was sick for an entire day and in bed and they just came in and went around me...didnt bat an eyelid. The strip is only 5 mins up the road with loads of bars and shops! if your looking for nice cheap shoes, go to the chinese shop at the end of the strip and the shoes are amazing. Went to Wild and Co. for food, bit over-rated! Loads of nicer, cheaper places. Would definatly recommend it and would go again.
