Just back from Auramar having spent Xmas and New Year there.
As others have said hotel location is good being on the beach
front with easy access to the old town. Rooms are spacious
enough and clean , but then we come to the kitchen !
In the two weeks that we were there we had our evening meal in
the hotel only three times the food was so bad! It was cold ,
bland ,mostly swimming in oil ,mainly inedible. The so called
Gala Meal at Christmas was an absolute disgrace. The staff
could not cope with the numbers sitting down to the meal.Firstly
we were presented with a soggy prawn cocktail then green pea
soup!( always a Xmas delight) ,one and a half hours later the main course arrived. I didn,t eat it as ididn,t know what it was supposed to be.By this time we decided to leave along with others. The restaurant manager was informed by many guests
of their opinion of this shambles but his reply was to say that he did not cook or serve the food ( nuff said about his attitude )
This hotel is extremely lucky to have three stars ,but it could be
good if the got in a restaurant manager who could do his job
and employed chefs who could actually cook! If you do decide
to stay at this hotel only do so on a bed and breakfast basis.
Stay away from HB and AI as there are lots of good places to
eat 10 to 15 mins. away.

we stayed at the Auramar Hotel in Oct 06 and i must admit it was Fantastic.
The rooms are very spacious and very clean, infact the whole hotel was very clean.
The location of this hotel is Fantastic, you are only about 1 min from the beach and about 30 secs from some serious views out over the sea and to the old town whichis a stunning place.
An added bonus is that you are only about 5 mins walk from the lively strip, where you can get any type of food that you want and the numerous bars are an added bonus aswell.
The food in the hotel was very good at the start of the holiday (lots of choice !)but near the end it was getting a bit boring as it was the same kind of stuff!
We ended up in the old town for our last dinner there and we went to a steakhouse and to say it was top class would be an understatement,,,it was FANTASTIC.
GOOD HOTEL,,EX LOCATION,,CLEAN & TIDY,,I WILL BE BACK TO THIS HOTEL NEXT YEAR.

We have just returned from 10days at this hotel and can find no faults at all. The service was excellent, rooms clean, food out of this world and location fabulous, It was our first visit and will certainly return. You are near the strip and also the old town. The walk along the beach is really something else. We never went to the entertainment but that was our personal choice. We had a drink at the bar most nights and found prices very reasonable and that all the staff were very pleasant. We would not hesitate to recommend this super hotel. Cant wait for our return visit.

loved the beach it's only few minutes away, and also the morning breakfast was really good because you can it as much as you like. The other thing i liked was everything was close by e.g. the strip this is like long road with lots of shops and pubs and clubs, lots of tourists there.

Myself(22) and my partner (25) have recently arrived back from the Auramar Beach Hotel after 1 week there on an all inclusive basis.
We arrived to a large hotel very close to the beach and it seemed great. When walking into reception we noticed that the lobby was dark and smokey, we had to wait a little to check in but we were in our room by 12 which was nice as they said check-in was not until 2. Staff weren't bad but they were not focusing there attention to us guests at times. We then made our way to our room which was nice with sea views, the only thing which wasn't the best was the bathroom with a mouldy shower curtain and shower mat and also the tap almost fell off in our hands. Other than that it was what we'd expected.

The hotel has got very good facilities for families and couples but we wouldn't recommend this for the elderly as we had to travel down 70 steps to the restaurant and swimming pool each day, but once there the pool area and beach bar was lovely. The restaurant was large but the food was repettitive each day with us having chips for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also the food was never hot; just luke warm. Also there were no choices for children.
The bar area was dark but the bar staff were fantastic who were always helpful and kept filling our glasses. For the all-inclusive choice we had pints of beer and cocktails and the staff ignored the rule of only 1 drink per person which was good.
The evening entertainment wasn't great either but the local bars and clubs were close (only about 20 mins away).

Overall the hotel was a typical 3 star hotel but we had a lovely holiday and would recommend the Algarve.

GOOD POINTS:- Location-5 mins from beach, 20 mins from the new town, 35 mins to the old town
Bar staff and restaurant staff
Swimming pools and facilities
BAD POINTS:- Dark Lobby
Not enough food choices
Alot of steps
