“Don't book all inclusive”
Reviewed March 30, 2009

We booked this as a late booking - checked reviews and saw that the food left a lot to be desired. Hotel very dated, they are improving the outside areas but have neglected the rooms and public areas. Very 70's. The food was the same thing every day and evening. Breakfast alternated with sausage and scrambled egg one day and bacon and fried eggs the next. Lots of fish in sauce, and unedible meats in sauce. Nothing for children to eat. Drinks came in small glasses and queing for them took ages. So you couldn't overindulge if you tried. Weather was good. No shops - other restaurants very expensive. Morgan on his organ every evening as entertainment. Very repetative.

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner was the same everyday, Food was very bland.
The beds were hard, no tea or coffee facilities in the rooms, no mini bar, no toothpaste.
The outside swimming pool was freezing cold because it wasnt heated, the inside pool was so tiny.
Night time entertainment was the same everynight with a man singing which was so boring.
Portugal was more expensive than London which I still find so hard to believe.
The only thing that was nice was the weather.

Pleasant location with sandy pathway down to beautiful beach. Walk along the beach to Albufeira old town, or take a cliff path walk in the opposite direction to a gently sloping beach with restaurants. Plenty of restaurants and bars although the menus are similar. Limited shops. Not exactly value for money with the current Euro/Pound exchange rate.

stayed at this so called 3* plus hotel with my wife for 4 weeks in january. first time we have ever been away for a month sorry it was here. room was basic weather was very cold most of our stay and we had to wrap ourselves in fleeces and sit in front of the wall heater to try and keep warm, we ended up getting in our beds to keep warm most of the time. food was awful mostly cold, chips at breakfast! we had the same so called vegetable soup every evening at dinner for the whole month. mind you it was about the only thing that was hot. the chefs special looked like something the dog threw up! when it rained(which unfortunately was most of the month) the hotel leaked dreadfully. there was buckets and bins in the corridors to catch the water. no changing facilities for the indoor pool. if ever there was a fire i pity the people staying there, the fire alarm went off one night during our stay and when we assembled in the foyer we were told it was a false alarm. good job really as all the doors were locked! drinks were expensive and unfortunately we were only half-board so it cost a bomb. the entertainment was dreadful one guy on an organ trying to sing in english, the same every night. if it wasn't for the people we met and spent our evenings with my wie and i would have probably ended up suicidal. i don't recomend this hotel to anyone this was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. unfortunately most of the restaraunts and bars on the strip were closed while we were there so we couldn't have a change from the hotel very often.

The hotel was clean and most of the staff friendly. Good location for the beach and the strip. The food was ok but almost the same every night so we wouldnt go all inclusive there again. Plenty of restaurants and pubs on the strip but there were people there who claim yo be doing research into tourism. Avoid them like the plague or it may cost you a small fortune as they are actually selling time share. The evening entertainment at the hotel was ok and we had a good time so we would go back.

Spent a week at this hotel - was expecting bascic accomodation but was pleasently surprised ! Couple of rough edges but generally public areas were very good and food plentiful (though not cordon-bleu!) Plenty of nightlife on doorstep at 'The Strip' 10/15 minute walk away if required. Nearby beaches also gorgeous !!

Arrived at the Auramar it has a nice entrance and large reception area the check in staff were really nice and explained the hotel facilitys and about the local area , we had been a little bit wary of our location on the transfer because our driver had been good enough to give us a verbal guided tour on the way to the hotel passing the main going out area the Strip and a big club called `´KISS´´ it seemed as if it was going to be very lively, however we were actually well located to be able to take it or leave it. The driver was great and everytime we used him during our holiday(because they also did trips or just local services) he always gave us lots of useful infomation about the places we went. Actually we got their web page from trip advisor and must say we were impressed and yes we also got a free bottle of wine cos we booked a return trip . i will give you the name now.www.algarvetransfersfaroairport.com.
The rooms in the hotel were basic , did the job and clean, room service was good an ladies were lovely. The location of the hotel couldn't of been better overlooking the beach an had a cliff walk just in front of us we were in the middle of the old town and the new town,
Eating in the hotel was not so great the food was just ok. But the resort has fab and varied restaurants .
The hotel at this time of year has alot of old people however an i no it will probably be just because of the time of year as quite a few of them go for 3 monthes or more in the winter time in the summer i'm sure its much different.
I enjoyed the holiday and i would recommend the hotel and the transfer company.
