Before booking this holiday I had read the reviews and noticed more negative than positive. My partner and I decided to go for it just to get a cheap break. On arrival we went to the reception to collect our keys, both of us were polite and asked questions which the reception staff ignored or replied with a grunt. Then a man came with a van to help us with our luggage to our room, the van was falling apart and looked like it was going to break down at any moment but the man was very friendly and helped us with our suitcases. The journey to our room was a long way uphill and we realised our room was at the very back of the complex. The roomwas outdated and the beds were rock hard and uncomfortable (bad nights sleep every night). We were self catering so never ate at the hotel but by the looks of the food I'm glad we didn't. The walk down to the old town but I don't recommend any ladies taking hills if you want to walk down. The walk back on the other hand was horrific, especially in the day when it's at its hottest! Not only uphill but well over 100 steps! So if you like hard beds, long walks uphill and rude staff this is the best place for you.

cracking stay.met some great people, you pay for what you get,if you want to pay a couple of hundred extras feel free to do so,and find another hotel, the only thing for me that spoilt it was the constant moaning of people,it clearly states it is not a 5 star hotel, get a life and next time stop in a caravan in wet and windy england and let the big majority enjoy there stay

We stayed self catering @ Albureira Jarmin 1. I had requested an apartmen t with a sea veiw and got one but as i have a problem with stairs and there were lots and lots the receptionist had taken that into account and offered us another on the level..Could still see the sea tho...
The apartment was Clean and cosy and had all we needed. We were there for x.mas and were able to cook a x,mas dinner in our apartment ,Which was great..The weather was mixed sunny in the day but very chilly at night but we had a heater in the room which kept us snug.
Overall i loved it but found Alburfeira itself far to hilly for me and doubt i would go back to that resort..The staff at Alburfeira Jardim especially the lady in reception were brilliant ,nothing was too much trouble and she was very helpful with her local knowledge..
Ideal apartments if your fit and dont mind hills...

to be honest we got what we paid for
the food would have been ok if it had being hot ,but 90% of the time it was only aired
also the first place we have ever been that uses side plates for breakfast (I mean for eating your breakfast off , not as well as)
the rooms were basic but clean ,the towels could all do with replacing they have seen some service
the bar ok if you like small 200ml plastic cups, we did get glasses on 2 occasions
the hotel also employs a hard working maintenance team they started banging and hammering at 08.00am and on one occasion in the room next door drilling at 01.00am in the morning ,at least I think it was next door was a bit disorientated due to just having woken up from a deep sleep.
maybe the next big project for them could be to locate the smell of sewage that seeps into the bar from the toilets
we would go back to this resort but probably not to this hotel

Our first visit to wonderful Portugal ,unfortunately this all inclusive stay was terrible, the worst food ever no kangaroo anus I don't think so unless they come in the shape of rice or pasta .This was the fare everyday rehashed hot or cold ,there was very little temperature difference anyway? The apartment was drab and dreary the sun loungers rusty and old .The view from the pool was lovely, but if you have any trouble walking its not the place for you ,it's up a steep hill and lots of cobbles .Also seeing a fifty plus man wearing the briefest swimsuit and nothing else at the buffet was not pleasant they need some sort of standards .The place is sad and neglected and needs a lot of TLC.

Room Tip: If you have mobility problems ask for a room low in the complex

My boyfriend and I went for a week from 3rd April - we're uni students and we found this was the cheapest holiday sun resort you can find. I've been Albufeira before and its a beautiful town, but never tried all inclusive here before.

ROOM:
The room was basic, pretty outdated. But we really couldnt care less, we were there to spend time either at the bar/restaurant or beach - so it was no bother at all. Unfortunately we guessed from talking to other guests that all 'double' beds were just two singles pushed together, and everyone had the same struggle of keeping the mattresses pushed together, every now and again they'd slide apart and you'd fall down the deadly gap. Room included fridge, microwave, hob/oven, and kettle. Due to all inclusive, we only used the fridge though. There was a minuscule television which you had to pay a euro a night for the remote control to use it with, which we never bothered with either. The room didn't come with a hair dryer although it stated on some sites that it did. Bathroom towels and bed sheets were changed regularly, and the cleaner also gave our room a good tidy every now and again. We didn't pay for the safe, and even with money on the side, a DSLR camera, two sets of headphones and an Apple Mac book on the side, nothing budged, so thumbs up for decency!! Our room was on block A1 at number 16 (i think) - this was bottom floor but as the hotel was on a hill you still had the teeniest sea view. Also for some reason the balcony was stretched out to the size of a back garden complete with sun loungers and a table - couldn't complain there. P.s. there were no scary insects found in the room in our time either, then again this could be due to the time of year.

BAR
As students this was the highlight of our holiday. SHOUT OUT TO HUGO AND EDGAR, they were terrific bar staff, they absolutely worked their socks off from 10am till as late as 2am the next morning. They were so polite, charming, and friendly. On the first few quieter days they served us unique and unusual cocktails, which were crafted to perfection: and they always remembered our favourite drinks so would automatically chuck us up one when we were waiting at the bar on the busier times. At the start of the week, the hotel was dead so the all inclusive included ANY cocktail, and any other locally imported alcoholic drink (amaretto, malibu, baileys, vodkas, gins, whiskey, tequila and god knows what else). However towards the end of the week when the hotel was rammed (and the bar had been drunk dry on several occasions by the Irish guests) they started being more stingy with their all inclusive options, there was a cocktail of the day which was normally either "sex on the bar" or a "rum and coke" concuction, and the other drinks were often run out by 11pm ish. But all the guests agreed as this hotel has only recently turned all inclusive, they just weren't ready for the astonishing drinking capabilities of this lot of guests. (In all honesty, the Irish and the remaining 20-30 year olds DEFINITELY got their moneys worth). Bar would close 12pm, but they were always lenient, they would let us order trays and trays of rounds 2 mins before 'shutting time', so we'd still be there drinking at late as 3am, before hitting the strip.

FOOD
The buffet resteraunt was small - but catered for everyones needs at all times. Breakfasts included full english (Cooked well), breads, cerials, fruit salads... Everything you could possibly want really.
Constantly on tap was soft drinks, wine and beer, tea and coffee, and cold milk.
Lunch and Dinner both ranged between various meats, pastas, (always chips), and lots of other random dishes. Pretty basic but catered for our needs, personally.

POOL
The pools were being restored during our stay, but when they were available during the end, guests would spontaneously 'take a dip' - much to their displeasure. It was freezing - not unusual for Albufeira because typically in Portugal, they do not tend to heat their pools. So I wasn't expecting much for early April. Decent in size though!

THE STRIP
The strip was about a 4-6euro taxi ride away, literally just down the road. We tried walking to it, but it requires going up and down lots of hills, quite frankly exhausting and near on impossible. The strip was absolutely buzzing, reminded me of my trip last year to Magaluf, just with more locals this time of year. Drinks are super cheap too - constantly lashing out the free shots!!

OLD TOWN
HUGE range of bars and restraunts, all very competitive and catering to different needs, and lots of day deals too. I recommend Zanzi's - they have set menus during the day to get starter/main/desert/drink for only 6ish euros.

Altogether, we had an amazing stay. All the guests and staff were so friendly and helpful and we had an amazing time, desperate to book to come back in the summer!!

GO TO THIS HOTEL.

Room Tip: Try to get to A1-A2 blocks - decent view and close to restaurant/bar/pool/reception, and at the bott...
