We called in last week around 6.30pm to book a table for 4 couples later on the same night, It proved to be a wise decision. We arrived at the restaurant at 8.15 and sat in the outside section
which was not reserved for us the restaurant filled quickly after that and by 9 pm was 70% full.
The outside section is the entrance with a roof on and is 3 metres away from the main road so
a scenic view is not really a selling point. The staff are really pleasant and attentive but they are very busy we ordered a starter and main course at 8.30 and the mains did not arrive until 9.40! so not the venue for a quick bite to eat when busy. The meals are all loosely based around pasta so no chips (or french fries for the posh set) are served. The food was OK for the price paid but we were served with a fish dish which had a watery sauce and the fish was cold, and a chicken dish which also had a watery lemon sauce. All of our starters mainly mushroom dishes were very hot so the microwave was working then after all. Overall opinion from our group led to the OK but average from the starter and mains perspective but then some of us had very large and tasty "puddings" which saved the day! Overall the location obviously adds to its popularity and the regulars, but we ate at several other establishments in the week and from the VFM basis rated Prima pasta average. The place is dark with authentic décor and popular with locals and trippers alike but sitting on a hard wooden bench for 2 hours is a tad to authentic for us over fifties!
