“Drinking la Vida Nova”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

My wife and I stayed in Albuferia the last week of September, first of October. We had hired a car and set off one cloudy morning to do some exploring. By chance we came across Sir Cliff's boutique winery. after being asked if we want to join the tour we paid our 15 Euro's and then had the tour. It was interesting and informative and they were just finishing the last few batches of wine. we were taken int the cellars where we tasted the wares. A very good attraction and worth making the effort to see.

“I dragged my husband and we learnt quite a bit”
Reviewed October 11, 2012 via mobile

We got a taxi,as this worked out cheaper for us. Our neighbours did the tour the day before us, on a tour bus. After the tour we went to the Algarve shopping centre, to get a taxi. I dragged my husband, but he didn't moan afterwards, so I guess he learnt something, as I did. Worth a visit. The staff where very nice and we emailed first, to let them know we where coming

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

The tour costs €7.50 if you get there under your own steam, more if you use their transport, you have to book by phone or email in advance, and it lasts about an hour or so. The first part consists of a short walk to a viewpoint overlooking the vineyard where the guide presents an informative talk about the winery, the grapes, the local area, and, of course, Sir Cliff's involvement. You are then taken on a tour of the winery itself, and what you get to see here really depends on what part of the production process is taking place at the time. Next you are taken to the wine cellar for a tasting. Be warned, though, after the heat of the sun the cellar can feel very cold, you may prefer to wear something with long sleeves. In the cellar you are given some basic wine tasting tuition and samples of the various wines produced. Finally you exit through the gift shop. It's worth a browse here not just for the wines but also (for Cliff fans) the photos and memorabilia on display. Some worthwhile discounts are offered for tour participants. All in all not a bad way to spend a couple of hours

“this was Sir Cliff Richards winery”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

It was amazing so pretty and the wine tours were fantastic and ended with a wine tasting and if you were very lucky you may see the man himself as he went a lot to help out with bringing in the grapes for wine

“informative plus added bonus”
Reviewed August 25, 2012 via mobile

As it was only a short distance from where we were staying we decided to visit a vineyard. The added interest is that Adego do Cantor is co-owned by Sir Cliff Richard. Our guide was very informative and explained the history of the vineyard starting with Cliff Richard's establishment through to the present day. She talked about the positive impact that Cliff's vision for establishing a centre for wine production was having on the Algarve as a whole as well as background on the grape varieties, soil, climate, production methods and the wines themselves. it was a very engaging and informative presentation by our Portugese guide and conducted in perfect English.
After the talk we were taken into the cellars for a tasting. We started with white, then rose, red and finally the red riserva. Sir Cliff and his team are producing very good and very drinkable wines at affordable prices. Our guide talked about each of the wines we tasted and she did explain how to see, smell and taste wine so that we got the best from our experience. Final stage was the shop which offers very good deals.
I have had tours of many vineyards and wineries from large to small and this was a very enjoyable experience. Only adults pay for the tour and the charge is very reasonable. I recommend this to fans of wine and Cliff alike.
The added bonus was that by chance we picked a day when Sir Cliff was present and had the pleasure of meeting a true legend of popular music.
