Description: Welcome to the website of Restaurant A Ruina, located in Albufeira, in the charismatic Praia dos Pescadores. To meet us is like tasting the best in the Typical Algarvian Gastronomy. • Using the wall structure from the Tower wich defended Sant'Ana's Door, the restaurant A Ruina is open since 1971 - with Joao and Salome Lazaro: the art of good hospitality, always - associated with the development of Albufeira. With four interior rooms, being one of them an ancient well room, in the Summer you can enjoy the terrace and the esplanada at the beach.

This was probably one of the best meals we had in Albufiera, the starters were amazing (I had calamari) and the main course was delicious, although it is a little on the pricy side the fresh fish was cooked to perfection and there were hardly any bones. The waiting staff are friendly and helpful and don't try to rush you off at the end of the meal, we sat outside on the beach at sunset, it was beautiful would definately recommend this place!

What a fantastic place in the old town. It looks over the beach and as far as you can see. If you don't like fish not a place to go. But if you do well worth a visit. Its not cheap but then you don't go on holiday to be tight. The food and the views were fantastic.

The best cod cataplana we have ever had! We visited this restaurant twice in the week it was so good. The service was great, attentive but not obtrusive. We were surprised that it was not expensive and the fish was amazing. Can't wait to return in September. The red house wine comes highly recommended and at 12 Euros a bottle you can't complain.

Tourist trap! I will willingly pay good money for good food (especially seafood) and good service, however this restaurant misses the mark on both unfortunately. Overpriced for what you get served. Go further out of Albufeira old town and you will find good seafood.

We had a party of six out for dinner while on holiday, we wanted a restaurant that offered something different from the typical tourist menu and ..we found it here. Located right on the beach front it was a great setting based in an ancient stone built building. With the large covered deck we were able to sit on a balmy evening watching the last people leave the beach as the sun faded for the evening. Ruina didn't offer a traditional menu, instead we were taken to the chilled counter to select our food and pay by the kilo. The waiter was well practiced at guiding people throughout the huge selection of fresh fish and seafood and explained how many people each fish could serve. We had a mixture of starters including squid, whitebait and and shrimp followed by our main course of sea bream and another fish which I can't remember the proper pronunciation (pakara?) . The portions were very substantial and expertly served by our table waiter. We had two people in our party who normally avoid fresh fish due to their worry of bones- they were both pleased to find that the filleting was beautifully done and we could relax and enjoy our food. It wasn't the cheapest meal out on this holiday but I would have expected to pay a lot more for the the same quality at home. Thank you Ruina we'll be back!
