Arriving at the apartments the reception staff are friendly, helpful and talk you through all the facilities. the rooms are scacious, clean and well equipped with washing machine, plates and cutlery as well as a fully working cooker. The only negative is having to pay for the safe 10 Euros and its a bit fiddely to work. The old fashioned key for the room rather than a card only helps as you don't need to carry it around but hans it in at the 24 hour reception.
We had a great double balcony (room 415) with breath-taking views of the old town and panaramic scene of the Atlantic.
The use of the spa and indoor pools require some costs such as caps and flip-flops but overall it was very useful to have a Turkish bath and stream room as well as the Jacuzzi. We went when the rooms were only 20% full so had good use of all facilites. The best thing about the apartments was the easy access to the old town, just 7 minutes walk down the 83 steps, not 100 as mentioned. They are not steep but older people may find the trip back up a little tricky. A taxi would cost only 4 Euros and there is a hotel shuttle bus every 2 hours.
Lots of local bars and restaurants especially O'Valero, a great place run by a local family with great food and prices.
The reception staff even phoned the airport transfer bus for us and overall the paprtments are the best plce to stay if staying in the old town.

Room Tip: room 415 or any on this floor for the best views.

Went her in June of last year, had been to Portugal before but never stayed in the Old town, will certainly be staying again!
The weather was brilliant, the hotel was beautiful, clean, very friendly staff, lovely food & a brilliant pool area! Included was the sauna and turkish baths indoor pool & jacuzzi.
Just a short walk away from the town center and the beaches, could not fault this holiday at all!

Room Tip: All rooms to my knowledge had sea/pool view

stayed here 26/12/12-29/12/12 rooms lovely and spacious almost everything you need for a self catering holiday.only downside was no hairdryer in room and had to borrow one from reception which could only be used for 2 hrs at a time. Also lacked complimentary toiletries apart from shower gel over bath, not quite 4* used the 'free' spa facilities but had to pay 4 euros for a compulsory swim cap. Spa treatment dearest ive ever come across but because there was a 35% reduction did try out a massage. Spa girls very chatty and attentive which is more than i can say for the reception staff. too many children with inflatables in the small indoor pool which made it impossible for a leisurely dip could have done with more staff supervision Have been to albufeira 3 times and would use this hotel again. cardiac hill is fine once you get used to it

Room Tip: choose top floor room to avoid the dreaded noise from tiled flooring

We switched to this hotel because we were staying in a noisu part of old town.
The apartments are good, we haven't tried the other facilities because we were only here.for two nights.
We had a greay view over Albufeirar from our room. There isn't actually anything bad to say about the hotel.
The only thing is the walk up the stairs from old town to the appartment, it was really an exercise, but not a reason not to stay here. And a taxi from old town to cerro mar is only between 3 and 4 euro's if you really can't handlethe stairs.
We haven't experienced the unfriendly staff, they were very helpful, from offering to print something for us because the public printer didn't work to giving us a later check out.
The only downside, for us, was that there was no free wifi.

Hi just got back last night . Fantastic hotel , would highly recommend . Impressive reception area with very helpful staff ! This standard was continued through to the accommodation . Exceptionally clean ( I do tend to look for dust ) . Excellent facilities ie washer , dishwasher , oven ( although did not use ) fridge / freezer , tv , and heating . We stayed half board so didn't cook although the kitchen is very well equipped for those who are self catering . The maid came in every day and emptied bins , made beds and changed towels . Plenty of storage in bedroom . We used the inside pool daily as outside pool too cold , also used the jacuzzi and sauna. ( there is a small charge to lend towels although we used them from our room, also swim caps have to be worn in pool) changing facilities nice and clean with showers and hair dryers) my husband and son used the gym daily and were impressed ! Staff in the leisure side polite and friendly . Half board buffet fantastic food best we have ever had ! great choice so everyone was happy . Waiting staff gave an excellent service . Did have to pay for evening drinks ( could be a bit cheaper ) . There is a lidil supermarket ten min walk which we we t to for water and snacks to keep in room . The hotel is on a hill , but in a fantastic location . Walk down a little from the hotel and there are steps leading to the old square, going down no bother coming up I was out of breath ( but to be honest wasn't as bad as I had expected ) and there's a free bus on so you could get a lift up if its a problem . Loved the old town , great little shops and bars . We visited vertigo at the bottom of the steps as it had a pool table for the kids ( as no pool table at hotel and bowling alley out of action) . There is a train which goes to the strip ( pick up point top of escalators) and also has a couple of other stops . Travelled to guia shopping centre by taxi ten euro either way . Good range of shops . To top our holiday off weather fantastic for Xmas . I will def return to the cerro mar gardens in the future !!

This is the third time I have stayed at this hotel and I would highly recommend it. Great location with fantastic views of the pool and the beach. I could actually see the sea from my bed! (room 402). I asked for a sea view on the top floor and got exactly what I asked for.

There are good facilities with an indoor pool, gym and large out door pool with a bar and restaurant. Surroundings are clean and apartment was modern and spotless. Food really good.

There are steps down to the main square which I didn't mind at all and they do free taxi runs for those who can't face all the stairs.

Overall, well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sea view at the Cerro Mar Garden

Just returned from a smashing holiday during October half term (we were later than some schools) staying at the Cerro Mar Gardens. We were welcomed by pleasant male receptionist (although rather stern) in the modern, spacious reception area. We had to get two lifts to reach our room, one up from reception, then walk across the patio area to reach the main block to another lift. What i found unusual was there was no stairs in the block - you had to get the lifts.
Our room was a fair way down the corridor, but upon entering we were delighted to find a very spacious accomodation comprising of hallway, two main bedrooms with good sized balconies, bathroom/toiler and second walk in shower room/toilet and then a main living area with modern kitchen with everything you need apart from microwave. Washer and dishwasher a god send with two children. Dont forget the tabs! It may be worth taking a few extra hangers if you have a good few items of clothing each. The TV is probably a little aged, but you can still get your fix of Corrie and Benders if you must, though there's no Chanel 4/5. The sofa was positioned facing the glass sliding doors overlooking the Town and the sea. A stunning view to wake up to, which my mother did, opening the curtains for an hour before rising! The balcony is massive in 201, probably the biggest from what I could see looking up from ground level at the others. Loads of room to do whatever you do on a balcony! Four chairs and table provided, plus nice drying device.
The pool area is lovely with a decent amount of space. I couldnt comment on how it would be in summer, without understanding the volume of people staying. Some of the beds could do with replacing. The water was cold, but not as cold as some places we've stayed at during October.
Pool Bar/Snack bar was decent - didnt try the food which looked ok, drinks were fair at €2.50 for a beer. Upstairs bar had great views being glass fronted and seemed nice, though pretty quiet.
We had breakfast for €7/€3.50 kids, which was eat all you want from a very nice selection of cooked stuff, cereals/fruits/pastries and breads. Can't see how people can grumble about lack of selection. What do you expect - Kippers and smoked salmon??

The indoor pool is of a good size and perfect depth for the family and the gym has a great view out across the pool and to sea. All modern equipment. Also used the sauna which was well built, although just on two levels. Spoilt by some Germans been in and out of the door like billio.

The Buildings as is widely commented upon are on the side of a steep hill. As mentioned my mother was with us, and she's 80. She coped with the hill and the legendary steps, albeit taking a odd breather. Rather than moaning, folk should get a bit healthier. Our children (5 & 8) were up and down them twice a day at least withouty complaint. They are also 'long' steps where you may have two paces on some steps, so of the lesser severity than some. In fact, the hardest bit is probably from the steps up the hill to the block, which is probably 75 yards or so.

A recommended eatery is at the bottom of the steps on the left on a corner just before you land on the square. Cant recall the name, but you cant miss it. A local small place, it does a 'tourist menu' of 3 courses including half a bottle of wine. Really good value and excellent food.

We didnt have a below par meal all week - even the main places on the square were great, along with some of the sea front places, although they are a little more pricey than some backwater joints, they couldnt afford to not serve good food with such competition around.

The weather was mixed but the quality of the facilities and closeness to the Town meant we were not stuck for anything to do. You can quite easily while away an hour sat on the sofa looking out to sea.

Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for 201 upwards ie 301, 401...you get the large private balcony with bang on sea view from the e...
