Was our first visit to Portugal & will definitely be returning! Hotel was lovely, quite quirky & modern. Breakfast was really good, especially the fresh fruit! Pool area clean & plenty of sun beds. Would recommend this hotel, thouroughly enjoyed our stay.

Early summer holiday for 6 nights. Before last year had never previously been to Portugal went to Olhao small fishing village weather was good accommodation fine however wanted a larger resort with bigger restaurant choice. stayed B&B room was spacious clean and modern as per rest of hotel only problem which seems to be a recurrent theme is the reservation of sunbeds this didn't bother us greatly as we go out during the day and only come back to pool for a couple of hours at 2 or 3 in afternoon however I can imagine how people get angry. Breakfast was plentiful 30 minute walk or so to old town restaurants we ate in were Buena Sera Costa Rica Invictus Anns in the Old Town and Mangelo Annas and Invictus were by far and away the best. Plenty of reasonable places for lunch

The Aqua Pedra dos Bicos Hotel Albufeira Portugal was a lovely hotel bed and breakfast was ideal. Breakfast was great plenty of variety. Only complaint was balcony was very small but view helped the floor below only had trees to look at so glad wasn't put in one of them. Also got phone call on last day asking us to vacate our room as we were supposed to be out for 11 am however I was able to point out to the desk clerk that on the pocket that housed our keycard for the room it stated 12 noon. They weren't too happy at me pointing this out to them. I would go back.

Room Tip: Make sure your room is on the upper floors.

Before leaving i emailed the hotel to upgrade our room from a standard room to a deluxe room as it was my wifes birthday. On check in they had messed up the room and had not got a deluxe room, i had brought with me the confirmation of the upgrade from reservations. I was not pleased as it was for my wifes birthday. The hotel reception staff were so apologetic about the mess up. They still upgraded the wife and i at no extra cost also they upgraded daughter and her boyfriend. They also put champagne and chocolates in both rooms. They also gave us a free 6 day internet. On my wifes birthday they put fruit and chocolate and another bottle of champagne into the room.

The hotel was excellent and ideal for couples. Its great if you don't want to be around little kids. We went on a bed and breakfast basis which i think was the right idea. I can't comment on the food in the evening as we ate out. But you can book in for evening meal. The breakfast was really good plenty of choice.

The location of the hotel was also great, you are a 5 min walk down to 3 beaches with all the activities you need. The hotel pool is not massive but as no little kids was fine. You are also only 5 to 10 mins walk to the strip. You also have bars and restaurants on the way to the strip also if you go the other way. Also you have a supermarket and some shops. The old town is only about 6 euros by taxi but if you fancy a walk it takes about 30 to 45 mins, a good place to visit at night.

Overall the hotel and the reception staff were great, they dealt with us fantastic. A tip for the ladies take a extension lead as no plugs close to the mirror.

Room Tip: I cannot really comment on rooms but we had a superior room with side sea view and had no problems w...

Having booked for 15 nights and received confirmation in January 2013 I was understandably mortified to arrive at 22.30hrs to find that I was being sent to another low grade self catering apartment for 4 nights. Having contacted my booking agent they informed me that the hotel had known for a week prior that this situation would arise, for me and 24 other bookings, and yet no notification was given. The hotel tried to make the situation better by offering certain advantages over the original booking but it could not take away the upset and disappointment of the situation on arrival.
Yes, in agreement with many reviewers this is an aesthetically pleasing design. Staying in a Superior side sea view room we found that the room size was no more than average and as others have said one of the smallest balconies. That said we don't go on holiday to spend all our time in the room!. Trip Advisor reviewers have had the desired effect with regard to the sunbeds. Extra have been added mid July although it is worth mentioning that despite all the notices around the hotel about not reserving sun beds the practice continues.
Regarding the buffet breakfast and evening meals we found that the breakfast selection was more 3 than 4 star and the evening buffet meals promised a lot but in reality were a let down.
Barbecued meats lacked any sort or marination prior to cooking any ended up as slabs of rather bland assorted meats. My wife and I felt that the food was bland and lacked flair and imagination that would have raised the standard to above average with little effort.
At the pool there was a very nice small pool bar which was staffed by very pleasant, helpful staffe.
Outside the hotel the location was 50 yards to the local bus route to Albufeira at a cost of 1.4 euros pp each way.Buses run up to 23.00. Taxis are available on a stand less than 50 yds away. Oura beach is reached going out of the hotel though the poolside gate and is a fairly steep walk and quite a few steps to a sandy/rocky beach where 2 sun loungers and a parasol cost 12 euros per day. The better beach, where sun loungers and parasol cost 15 euros is in front of Club Praia da Oura which is reach another 5 minutes walk further on the beach path.
'The Strip' where all the nightlife, and most shopping, closest to the hotel takes place is 10-15 minutes walk, in the direction of Albufeira. Very close the the hotel is a branch of the French supermarket chain Intermarche which has most food/drinks and cosmetic needs.
My overall impression of the hotel on this visit was nothing short of very disappointing. I filed a report for the Tourist Authority in the ' Complaints Book' and was asked to meet the Manager , who rather disrespectfully arrived 5 minutes after our arranged appointment to offer a rather less than fulsome apology. Albufeira is a beautiful location and the Portuguese nationals very friendly. Well worth a return for that alone.

Room Tip: Pool view rooms are larger with better sized balconies.

When we arrived for our holiday on the 2nd July there was a problem with overbooking, the

reception staff dealt with this very professionally. Our stay was very enjoyable and we would

very much like to return in the future. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Thank you for a lovely stay.

My husband and I stayed at the Pedra Dos Bicos hotel the first two weeks in july - we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who gave us a map of the area and information about the hotel. The hotel is stunning modern and sophisticated we were in room 011 which is on the ground floor the room was spotless with a free safe and a fridge which we found handy. We ate our breakfast outside every morning which consisted of bacon sausages eggs beans etc. there was also a choice of cereal breads cheeses ham and fresh fruit a chice of 3 fruit juices and a coffee machine. The only negative thing about this hotel is the lack of sunbeds which has been mentioned on previous reviews you have to get up really early to get a place so we often went to the local beach through the gate at the bottom of the garden - its a lovely beach with a bar. There are lots of restaurants close to the hotel but avoid the ones showing pictures of the meals they are like cheap cafes - we would highly recommend THE COCKERILL KITCHEN you do need to book it is so popular the ribs were the best Ive had and the chips are home made - round the corner from the hotel is a portugese restaurant called CASA VELHA which is excellent we ate here twice it was so good and a vey good price. We got the bus into the Old town where there is plenty going on lots of live music with a lovely atmospere - we would also recommend JOHNNY HOOPERS JAZZ BAR we had a meal and then listened to a jazz musician had a dance and took part in a quizz and all round night. This was our first time to Portugal we shall be returning next year and will be staying at this hotel.
