Very nice modern hotel. Reception staff excellent. Rooms spacious and comfy.
The down side is, no brush & dustpan so you can clear up minor spillage, no instruction leaflets for any appliance, eg. Microwave had symbols I have not seen before. Washer in kitchen but you have to ask for it to made available, the wood door on front is screwed down. Telephone but no telephone book. some sort of telephone / intercom in entrance to room, nothing about what it is for or how to use it. Rant over.
Highly recommended, looks lovely, we enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is imaculate and rooms superb, couple of things that disapointed was that there was no kettle and very basic kitchen eq. The place is noisey too, think its coz its all marble and every noise can be heard.

The facilities were good and hotel bar excellent, reception were good to we arrived earlier than booking was avail but they found us a room there and then.

Its between the old and new town, 10mins for strip and 25mins from the old town, we have spent a fortune on taxis but it you dont mind the walk.......

I would go back, we went for a 4day break as a couple but if we were taking our little boy dont think this would be our choice.

Great location - 10 mins walk to very nice quiet beach - 10 mins walk to the Strip - 10 mins walk to the big supermarket & 15 mins walk to the Old Town.

Lovely clean modern 4* apart-hotel. Excellent value for money. The apartments are well secure, are generously spacious with furnished balcony. The entrance hall has additional wardrobe/drawer space. Bathroom has full bath, power shower, wc, beeday, sink, as well as hairdryer & shaver point! Clean towels daily. Kitchen has a full size fridge & 4 drawer freezer, dishwasher, washing machine (free to use) etc etc. Living room/diner has tv with Engligh chanels inclusing ITV & BBC - so never miss your soaps again!! Also has telephone (cheaper to use than public phone across the street). Bedroom was huge with loads of wardrobe space & additional pillows/quilts if needed. If you need an iron ask reception - it's free to hire.

Lovely swimming pool area - very spacious, with 2 big pools & a separate childrens splash pool - were building a pool side bar while we were there.

Bar has happy hour 5-7pm. Bar is pretty quiet as only used by residents.

This was a two week stay (Apr.26-May 10, 2009) in a one bedroom apartment on the 2nd floor with a balcony off the bedroom (twin beds pushed together), lots of closet/drawer space, overlooking the pool, 4 piece bathroom (no hairdryer), dining/living rooms with access to the balcony. AC/Heat with handheld remote, built-in radio in bedroom/living rooms, LCD TV, full kitchen with stove, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, dishes, cutlery, cooking utensils but had to ask for a kettle which was no problem. No coffee maker so instant coffee (ugh) had to be the choice. This is really a fantastic complex, very clean throughout this apartment/hotel. Very good maid service (none on Saturdays and Sundays). Checking in was fast and efficient and we were the only Canadians staying there at the time. The Manager was friendly. Our favorite Receptionist, Jessica, became our good friend and provided us with tips on places to visit, etc. SunMed Rep also gave us lots of information at our orientation.
F do V is within walking distance to The Strip and Modelo Shopping Center; a little further to Old Town. However, we would drive the car to Modelo (Watches Circle), use the underground parking and then take the Train to Old Town. This Train runs every 20 minues on the Modelo side of the road just pass Brisas Sol and opposite to MacDonalds and makes three stops depending on where you get on, i.e. Modelo, The Strip or Old Town for E4.00 one way. Parking is prime and besides Modelo there are Parking Lots on Rua do Municipio opposite the Town Hall. If you want to walk to Old Town, this is a good spot to park. Pingo Doce is another shopping center at the Worms Circle. There is also a convenience store – Blue Market – closer to F d V but a little more expensive.
SOME TIPS ON RESTAURANTS & SIGHTSEEING: CASA DO AVO, Rua do M.F.A. from Town Hall and parking lot down the little hill – very good meal. BUENA SERA on The Strip and opposite La Bamba. CAIS VELHO, (share the paella) on the waterfront in Old Town; MI SOMBRERO, on the waterfront in Old Town (great margaritas); PANACEE (pick up a card from F d V Reception Desk); SNACK BARS: RIVIERA SNACK BAR, Rua do Municipio near Brisas Sol (great sangrias); AMORIN Rua 5 de Outubro(opposite T-Shirt Company in Old Town) for sangarias. You will definitely not go hungry or thirsty in Old Town and the Strip!
ALBUFEIRA MARINA which you can walk to from Old Town, bars, restaurants and the condo buildings in different colors of blue, orange, green, yellow, pink; OLHOS D’AGUA, FALESIA, SAO RAFAEL, PRAIA VERDE, MONTE GORDO, LAGOS, MONCHIQUE FOIA (the highest point in the Algarve and on a clear day you could see Africa – it was too hazy the day we went), SAGRES FORTRESS, CAPE ST.VINCENT (EUROPE’S SOUTHWESTERN POINT), TAVIRA AND THE FERRY TO THE ISLAND; SILVES (OLD MOORISH CASTLE); VILA REAL DE SANTO ANTONIO AT THE PORTUGESE/SPANISH BORDER

I can't recommend Forte do Vale apartments highly enough - we booked a week there for £100, and though the website looked impressive we couldn't believe it would be *that* nice for £100. We were wrong, it was gorgeous, the staff were great. the rooms were decent enough to live in all year round! The location is good too - a short walk to the beach and a little further to the quieter parts of town. It's just a short walk to the strip too.

A couple of recommendations: The Sizzling Stone, fantastic little restaurant just off the beach end of the strip where your steak arrives on a hot stone and cooks in front of you according to your taste. Not as expensive as it should be! - we had couvert, a sirloin steak meal each and a bottle of house red for 45 euro.
Walk up towards the old town and if you stick by the coast side of the hill you'll find the Lemon Tree, a great place to sit and have a glass of wine at the end of a hard day's lazing around.
Lastly, we booked our taxi transfers from the airport with Bravo Tur, who were excellent, waiting for us on time for both journeys, pleasant drivers (who don't drive like maniacs) and only cost a bit more than a coach transfer would have cost.

we decided to stay at this hotel after reding previous reviews.
we stayed for one week at the beginning of may self catering in one of the hotels studio apartments to which after we booked i found out were furnished with sofa beds which was'nt ideal as my wife is 6 months pregnant, i e-mailed the hotel to check this and enquire about a possible upgrade to which they replied that they would ensure that our room would have twin beds, which sure enough they did.
check-in was quick and efficent they didnt keep our passports over night like some hotels the room was above expectations it had a fridge freezer, dishwasher, hob, microwave oven, toaster and plenty of utensils home from home.
the room and hotel were very nice clean as was the pool area shame no balcony.
the hotel is very well situated and having been to albufeira before we new exactly how to get to the strip and old town in 10 mins. come out of the main entrance turn right walk up to the roundabout turn left for the strip or right for the old town 10 mins even with preggers in tow. if you come out of the back of the hotel and turn right theres a small spar style shop that has everthing you need carry on past the shop about two hundred meters and theres a nice bakery with fresh cakes rolls every day try the chocolate cossiants.
if you go to the old town try cabana fresca over looks the beach we had an excellent meal there with several drinks for 33 euros, and if you go to the strip try portofino also as good and reasonable. if you fancy a good cooked brekie find cocounuts on montechoro side of the strip 3 euros also mary rose bar good food cheap 1 euro for a large beer.
all in all the best holiday we've had in age's and probably the last just the two of us for the next 18 yrs. you wont go wrong with this hotel.
also good tip we used viadirecta for our transfers they were excellent very efficent.

We stayed at Forte do Vale the first week in May and had a very pleasant holiday. The apartments are modern, clean, airy and spacious with balconies overlooking the pool, or in our case, the car park. This did not cause us a problem as we had the sun in the morning for breakfast, and the cool shade for the afternoon. The staff were friendly and helpful, and overall I would say it is good value for money.
Our apartment had a spacious bedroom, living room, (TV with some UK channels), pleasant bathroom and kitchen. The kitchen had a hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer (no kettle). It also had a washing machine in a locked cupboard, which you have to ask at reception to be unlocked, (not sure why, as they came up within 5 minutes to unlock it for us). You also have to ask at reception to borrow an iron, once again no problem, but no ironing board, so we had to use the table.
There is a safe in the bedroom, however you have to rent a lock to use it, (2.50 euro per day).
There is a pleasant bar on the ground floor that during our stay had a happy hour until 7:00 in the evening, with glasses of wine at 1 euro, large beer 1.50 euro. Internet access is also available, but once again you have to pay (1 euro for 10 mins).
The Apartments are situated about 15 to 20 mins walk from the old town, (my wife and I are in our fifties and managed the walk there and back each evening without any bother). You can also get to the sea (5 to 10mins) via one of the roads opposite the apartments and walk into town along the beach, tide permitting.
No real issues with the apartments, and would gladly stay again if we returned to Albufeira.
