We arrived after midnight to a very welcoming Bruno! He happily showed us to our room which was just what we expected after reading the reviews on here. Spotlessly clean, large one bedroomed apartment. The living room has two large sofa beds in so my daughters had one each and thought the space was great! It has everything in there you need including a washing machine. Sadly no pool view but relieved we were at the back of the building over looking the carpark due to the noise at the front of the building. The road is a little busy so nicer to be away from that if you can help it. We ended up in Cheers Bar below for a couple of drinks and as we’d had a late flight and we were all pretty hungry. Cheers Bar seems to stay open all night. Great atmosphere in there and they really look after you. They cooked us a couple of really nice pizzas which we wouldn’t have expected so late on. They do the best mojitos too!
The hotel is run by a really friendly small team and they never seem to stop working. The pool bar is great, not over priced at all and Bruno’s dad gives you lessons in Portuguese which is great fun. We all learned how to say obrigado and a few other simple phrases.
The whole Hotel area is immaculate. The pool is continually cleaned and the best thing of all was no early get ups in the morning to try and reserve a sun lounger. Just enough for everyone no matter what time you arrived and the staff put a stop to anyone leaving towels on if they weren’t there to use them.
One minor unwelcome surprise we did get was having to pay extra for air con. We were a little caught out on that one as we had obviously read the holiday description wrong and expected it to be included. I can’t remember the exact figure but we did have to pay around an extra 80 euros or near enough for the fortnight which we could’ve done without. But it was that hot we needed it in the rooms and it worked a treat.
We would definitely return to these apartments again. The location is spot on being just far enough away from the Strip which is really buzzing until the early hours. Friends of ours stayed in a hotel right on the strip and got no sleep what so ever so this confirmed we made the right choice.
Nearest beach is about a 15 minute walk. Bit uphill on your return but there are a couple of shops and bars on the way for much needed liquid refreshment.
A walk into the old town only took us about half an hour. Although the little train stop was only just around the corner so just as easy to hop on that if we didn’t fancy walking. A taxi cost about 5 euros into the Old Town too which we thought was pretty reasonable.
If you’re looking for a nice meal visit Blue Sky Restaurant. This is about ¾ of the way up the strip off one of the side roads. We ate there 3 times as they looked after us so well. The food was beautiful and they would adapt a meal to whatever you wanted. It does take a while to cook if the restaurants busy but you cant rush perfection. Lovely family run and very, very friendly.
