“Best family holiday for young children”
Reviewed March 31, 2013 via mobile

I've been to 3 holiday villages; majorca, spain and Portugal. I would say, as my children are 3 and 6, that Portugal is the best, followed by spain and then majorca. The variety of food is best in spain and would suit slighly older children. The entertainment is best in spain. We wouldn't go back to majorca as it was an average holiday. Portugal has an excellent water slide/play area, great kids club, the variety of food was ok, as I am a coeliac and entertainment areas were ok. There can be a bit of a hike if you stay in the lower rooms. We're going again in may this year; can't wait.

We stayed here in October for a week. The apartment was lovely, big and very spacious even tho we were allinclusive we had good kitchen facilities. The swimming pool area was very nice and clean. The first choice reps had activities going on all day for all ages and were very friendly. There was also a pool with slides which the children loved. One of the best things about the hotel was the food, it couldnt be faulted. We sometimes have a couple of meals out even when we are allinclusive as we get bored of the food however here we didnt bother.
There is a beach walking distance from the hotel over the road and through another hotel which was very nice. We hired a car for a few days and visted other places like lagos, villamoura and sagres where we found a gorgeous surfing beach.
In the hotel the entertainment team worked really hard, however it was too repetitive. No matter what the evening show was called it consisted of the 5 reps singing. Other holiday villages we have been to had things what got you joining in ie Mr and Mrs (always funny to watch) however the children did enjoy the kids disco. After that we would go and sit in the other bar.
This is a brilliant family hotel and we wouldnt hesitate to go back,.

This was our first family holiday we went with our 3 year old and 6 month old, the staff were lovely although we arrived late in the evening an had a mix up with our room it was quickly sorted so we could put the boys in bed. The room was spacious, clean and well set out. We had requested a cot and it was all set up in the room. As we had children we were on the ground floor and the view from our room was truly beautiful!! We were in front of the main pool and a stones throw from the bar and the buffet. We had read so many bad reviews about the food I actually brought food for the baby because I was worried, the food was excellent, breakfast was a bit same ish but we had different choice every night and was always lovely, drinks were ok again just a bit same ish and branded alcohol was extra even with all inclusive. The beds were a bit un comfortable as they are 2 singles pushed together so towards the end we were quite sore and wanted our own beds! The water in the pools was freezing I couldn't get in as it really was that cold, the kids pool at the front seemed warmer. Snacks around the pool again were nice my eldest son loved it. The Turkish bath was not working while we were there so never got to use it. Not far in a taxi to the old town. Well worth it lots of shops, restaurants and a beautiful beach. Can't rate the night time entertainment, great for the kids but not so much for adults we found. Reception always helpful the Scottish lady who works there is a lovely woman and very helpful! We had a lovely holiday but just the beds and night time entertainment and the walk up and down to the shop and the cold pools let it down! Would go again though as it was a beautiful place.

We stayed here as a family of 4 and enjoyed it.
Rooms: The rooms were apartments and were very nice.
Beach: We didn't go to the beach, as it was 800m away from the apartments, but we knew someone who did, and said it was lovely.
Pools: The outside one, well, IT WAS HUGE! Apparently, it was one of Algarve's biggest!
Food: Lovely, one time we went to Praia d'Oura (the nearby town) and it has good restaurants. One had a toy penguin to hold ice cream!

Overall: 4*

Room Tip: Apartments on higher floors are bigger

I went here in July 2011. We booked last minute and didn't really know much about holiday villiage resorts. We were so pleased we went here. Everything is there, you really don't need to leave (which when travelling with a 1 year old is a must!) the food was good, the room was spacious and clean and the pools beautiful. My only downside would be that the beach was a long walk away and very hilly. Pushing a buggy up those hills was like a full on workout!

First let me say the holiday village staff where brilliant kids club was great, the three pools where good, but freezing too cold for my little tike so I had to spend every day in the indoor pool which was very smelly of chlorine which means its dirty, the slides in the play pool weren't as good as we where lead to believe. The big let down was the food and dinning area, the food was very bland and samey over two weeks it was a drag, this is partially my fault as I'm a fussy eater, but I've been on all inclusive holidays alot this hotel was the worst I've been in for food. The hotel is split in two with one of the sections down a great big hill , if you've got a kids buggy or a wheel chair you're knackered. We where in this hotel so this hill had to be walked up and down 4/6 times per day with kids and grand parents in tow.
Our rooms in the hotel where good nice clean modern, we had one with the kitchenette an one without, both very nice, it's just you need to walk up that hill for breakfast dinner and tea!
