“NOT AS EXPECTED”
Reviewed May 27, 2013

The owner leaves a lot of plates of starters on the table before you arrive. You will only pay for what you eat, but it would be better if you could decide what should be served. After eating many of those starters, some of them very good, you are offered the menu. The food is authentic from the Alentejo, expensive and nothing special. Do not go if you do not have a reservation. The place is very small.

“A good gastronomic experience”

A small but cozy space. Food well prepared and tasty. The only consideration is the price that I consider high for a meal.

“Top restaurant!”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Really one of the best restaurants we have ever been. The choice for such a small restaurant is amazing. Please make sure you make a reservation otherwise you might miss this great experience. The wine and all the starters were sufficient to skip the main course. The mix of deserts is great as well!

“What a delight!”

Great food, the chef is a genius. Small restaurant, so make reservations! And try any of their fish dishes....just remember that the portions are quite large and you should pace yourself. And don't just go and eat "tapas"-style; the restaurant has six tables and won't survive on that kind of business; and frankly you would be missing some of the best cooking in this region!

“Excellent local cuisine”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

We had a lovely meal at this tiny (12 seat) Evora restaurant. The waiter is the owner, the cook the owner's wife. This is not a restaurant for a fast, inexpensive meal. To explain, at some Portuguese restaurants, you sit down at a table and appetizers will be on the table or you will be served quickly with appetizers you did not order. Our experience, at other restaurants, is that these can be returned and you will not be charged. At this restaurant, we found the appetizers appealing and we ate and enjoyed all of them. So I don't know what happens if you reject some or all.

We enjoyed our dinner. We felt it was wonderful, traditional, Portuguese cooking. We loved the wine suggested by the owner. We actually went to wine store and bought 2 more bottles of the same wine to take home. We chatted with the family at the table beside us. We enjoyed all the food was served. The restaurant was pricey but we believe it was worth it.
