“Fantastic-but make sure you are hungry!!”
Reviewed November 10, 2011

Aqueduto is situated quite far out of the main centre, but it is well worth the walk! It’s hidden away near the aqueduct- we almost walked past it.

It’s a very modern building, all white and trendy glass light fittings. There are 2 main rooms and a separate smoking room-filled with giant urns; it looks the prettiest room but smells like an ashtray!

The food is amazing-everything was fresh and super tasty. It’s very rich so make sure you are starving before you go! We had cheese, bread and pate to start the meal-we have enjoyed lots of great cheese in the area but this was by far the creamiest. For starters, I had mushroom soup-so full of flavour and creamy. My husband had eggs with chorizo-again delicious and flavoursome. For mains I had caramelised ham and rice-this was delicious but very rich-the sauce was super sweet and even the rice was buttery rich. But very tasty!!! My husband had duck in a fruit sauce with rice-again very tasty but sweet and rich. We definitely didn’t need a dessert!

We had coke and a beer, bill came to around 55 Euros which was great for what we had. A great place for a special occasion

“Totally updated - go and try it.”
Reviewed June 3, 2011

The previous review indicates why O Aqueduto was ripe for new management, which is what it got. Totally refurbished and under new ownership this place gets top marks from us. It reopened in April 2011 with a new chef who produces tasty and well-presented local food. Stylishly and simply decorated, the restaurant might be considered a touch austere were it not for the warm welcome and the obvious pleasure taken by the staff in serving their customers.
We had chanced upon this place while strolling around Evora after lunch and spent some time discussing the menu with the owner with a view to making a reservation for dinner. He told us that a reservation was not necessary and wished us an enjoyable stay in Portugal. We had no real intention of going back in the evening but in the event, after rejecting a number of other restaurants which had televisions blaring in the background, we found ourselves returning to O Aqueduto; and we were glad we did.
This was one of those rare evenings when all went well. The food was exquisite, the non-expensive wine recommended by the waitress complemented the food perfectly, and the service was professional.
When the coffee was served the owner apologised for intruding and asked if he could make some suggestions as to what we could do and see in Evora. We were actually leaving for Santareme the following day but we nevertheless had an enjoyable discussion ranging over a number of subjects. He gave us his card and told us to call him if we ran into any difficulties, or just wanted some advice, while we were in Portugal. This man knows what customer service is all about and I am sure that he will be getting many more 5-star reviews to wipe out his predecessor's 1-star single review.

We would like to thank you for the fact that you wrote what you felt on visiting our Restaurant.
It's really nice when we, that basically work for the Clients, in an environment based on service and Quality of the food that we serve, looking forward to give more than just a service, based on that principle of us that "to have a restaurant it's much more than serve meals", notice that there are some Clients that gives us the return, on saying that are satisfied with us and with the service we give.
Thanks a lot, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to serve you again.
