We stayed at the Evora Design Inn which is next door to this great patisserie on the edge of Republic Square. The staff coped well with people speaking a range of languages and although it was very busy when we visited for a Saturday breakfast, people were served efficiently. There are tables inside and out the back in the laneway that runs behind the square. Coffee was great and less than a euro for an espresso. The pastries were similarly delicious and inexpensive including some very good portugese tarts (better than the ones in Belem that tourists queue for an hour to experience).
Two breakfasts including three coffees was less than five euro with great professional service and a nice atmosphere.
