If you want to stay in a place with old town atmosphere, then this is the place. Quite an old building transformed in a nice hotel. In the heart of old town is very close to the main attractions and you can simply walk around sightseeing and going to local restaurants where you can find good food and wine for very reasonable prices. Do not expect a fantastic room, it is simple, old furniture, but that is what you expect to find in these places. The price by the way is very reasonable and the service is very friendly and personal. Kids might not like it, it is for couples of all ages. There is parking at the back, but entrance is in another street in th back of the building, If you have a car go directly to the parking's address. The main hotel's entrance is in a very narrow street and you may find yourself in deep trouble depending on the size of your car.

If you are after a typical bland hotel with standard facilities then don't come here, but if you prefer excellent value with charming and most helpful receptionists in a building of character and huge history, with clean and somewhat basic facilities, then this is for you. Yes there is a roman pillar and a slit for firing arrows in reception, wonderful vaulted ceiling in the breakfast room, and some of the en-suite bathrooms are also fairly historical. The friendly receptionists go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, and the breakfast buffet has lovely fresh rolls and the usual selection of fruits, yoghurt and cereals, with unlimited coffee. There is a computer for guests, and wifi if needed. The rooms are very clean, if a little tired, and our beds were totally comfortable, though the pillows were indeed a bit lumpy. Finding and booking on trip advisor was the easy part, but it was almost miraculous that we were able to navigate the one way system of cobbled streets to Policarpo without a map! It is really well situated centrally and once the car was parked in the private car park the city is easy for walking. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly come back !

Room Tip: The ensuites 101 to 104 have wonderful vues out to the South east

A really beautiful location for sure and the breakfast was descent but the beds were very uncomfortable. The pillows were the lumpiest pillows I have ever slept on and I have slept on some bad pillows. Seriously they need to replace them.

Room Tip: If you do decide to come here anyway, make sure you don't have a room facing the street, as you...

It may not seem the most beautiful hotel, but there is something special in its atmosphere... The hotel is in 17th-century building and you can actually feel it!
The rooms are little (our was) and simple, but still very clean and comfortable.

It's located right in the Old Town of Evora, although a bit difficult to find. Room rate includes breakfast. Free hotel parking is a great bonus for those travelling by car, as there is limited parking space in the Old Town.

This 16th century Nobleman's mansion was our favorite place to stay. Finding it was hard tho and the parking lot was tiny ( but free) The room was simple and had a tiny deck. Breakfast was good and sat on the terrace. The staff was very helpful when we were looking for a place to have dinner.

Room Tip: We faced the parking lot and it was quiet there.

Very hard to find by car and parking is very tight. Not every room has good WiFi access (202 didn't but the "cyber room" is close and has hi speed). There are lots of stairs and I think they prefer you don't roll your luggage up the ancient stone steps. Everything else was positive. Monique at the front desk was great and had excellent suggestions for eating, including where to go if you preferred to have something before the usual late hour. Standard fare for breakfast but very good quality and all the coffee you want. Our room with a toilet and tiny shower was roomy, super clean and had some really nice furniture. Perfect location (once you find it).

We spent a night in Pensao Policarpo in Evora during our trip through the Iberian Peninsula in September. It's a cosy, little, historic place in the heart of the Old Town.
As such it doesn't offer all the modern facilities; instead, there is this unforgettable atmosphere of staying in a centuries old place with a soul of its own.
The rooms offer adequate comfort and the front desk service is great. There is also breakfast provided, free Wifi (not everywhere as thick walls screen the signal but for sure in the common areas) and parking which is a big advantage given the location.
All in all the feeling is of visiting one's grandma rather than staying in a hotel. Definitely reccommendable for all those who seek something different than another chain hotel :)
