“A great feature of Evora”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

When you get to Evora, you are surprised at how well everything is preserved. From Roman and medieval times until now. The same applies to the aqueduct. It stretches far beyond the Evora city centre. And what is the most surprising is that what awaits you inside the city centre. You can walk just beside it. In some parts it actually represents the exterior wall of some houses. Rather than tearing it down, they used it and preserved it. Really great!

“Großes Viadukt”

What did I like--after the pont du Gard and Segovia it did not really surprise me - but its quite close to the old city walls and one can't miss it

“You won't be able to enjoy it.”
Reviewed November 9, 2012 via mobile

If you expect to feel the spirit of Roman times, forget it. It goes above a new city road and i doubt you will be able to make a single goot shot of or with it.
If you're lucky to go to Vila do Conde near Porto, there is a much more impressive one.

“So well preserved and a part of the landscape of Evora”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

It was wonderful thing to stumble across this aqueduct part way down the hill in Evora. We followed it to the town walls and after we left Evora we drove along part of the way. Cars run between its supports and people live under it. So beautiful to photograph in the late afternoon and imagine all the life it has seen since it was built.
