Other reviewers have said it all and we are at a loss to know what we can add. The warm welcome and the genuine wish that guests have everything they want puts the staff at Albergaria do Calvario among the best we have encountered anywhere in the world. Examples include parking and retrieval of our car, check-in that was accompanied by delicious refreshments and loads of useful information, assurances that they were on call 24 hours per day, the production of bubble wrap to protect some fragile purchases, insistence that we should take water for our ongoing journey and, always, smiles and bubbling spirits.

Our room on the second floor was very pleasant, blessedly quiet and looked out over a narrow cobbled street. It had a tiled floor and a large modern bathroom.

Breakfast was excellent with a good cold buffet and hot food to order.

We should have stayed longer than one night!

as past hotel owners, our standards are exacting - often we find room for improvement, but here, everything was completely top notch.

The personal, hands on, service is what sets this place apart: from the minute we arrived, drained from a long 6 hr drive, we were greeted with a glass of wine and an offer to park the car. What a joy! Small thoughtful gestures like these that put smiles on our faces.

as others have mentioned, the breakfast was outstanding - choice, freshness, quality were superb.

We asked for a superior room on the second floor - it was quiet, large and very private with several windows and as expected.

also worth mentioning: Hugo at the Albergaria put us in touch with a wonderful guide for a megalith tour - highly recommended as an interesting part of Portugal's prehistory

when the sun finally came out and temperatures warmed up, guests, including us, flocked to the inner courtyard, basking in late afternoon sun - a fantastic place to put up your feet and enjoy a glass of wine before heading out on the town again

wish we could have stayed longer than 2 nights! touring Portugal for a month, this a top pick

Room Tip: room 8 is huge - top floor, corner unit, very bright - shower only in the ensuite bath

Right from our arrival the service was impeccable, and Nina and her awesome team of employees were extremely warm, friendly and helpful. We couldn't have asked for anything more from Albergaria's team in order to make our stay any better. The room was very comfortable and clean. The included breakfast was exceptional with an incredible selection of food and beverages. We received excellent recommendations for dining throughout Evora based on our food preferences for that day, along with the highlights of what to see while in town. It was an easy walk from the hotel to everything in Evora. I would definitely stay here again, and also recommend to my friends and family.

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights in May. The hotel is located just within the old town walls and is an easy walk to all the sights in town. Everything about the hotel is excellent, but the breakfast is just outstanding. It is all organic and locally sourced, consisting of freshly baked artisan breads, ham, cheeses, fresh fruits, and great coffee served with hot milk. It is also possible to order pancakes, french toast, & omelets from a cooked-to-order menu.

There is free parking on site in a secure garage (they even park the car for you and retrieve it when you are ready to leave). The rooms are meticulously clean and the bed is very comfortable. The only thing I didn't particularly like was the old style hairdryer in the bathroom. It had low power and was not very hot. Other than that, I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again in the future.

Room Tip: The superior room is somewhat bigger than the standard or "classic" room, but other than a little more space, there is no difference. Unless splurging for a balcony room, I wouldn't pay extra for a superior room.

We recently have the pleasure of staying at this wonderful hotel. Everything was just as advertised. Service was exemplary, breakfast was very good and the room was very clean. Parking is included and easy to access. This is an excellent base to do some exploring in the area around Evora. We should have stayed for more than the one night!
