Owner description: The temple, built in the first half of the first century AD. C., which as we can see today, it is completely surrounded by a portico more evident than was the forum of the Roman city, large square that stretched at its greatest extent, in the north-south direction and trace, in following archaeological work done in that area, we know that occupied all the space goes, roughly, the southern boundary of the garden to the Cathedral and the Palace of the Inquisition until Cadaval Palace. Rectangular in plan, with 25x15m, hexastilo (with six columns on its front) and periptero (with free speaker to involve the entire perimeter of the cell), was built in the Corinthian style with use of local materials, marble column bases and in capitals and granite structure of the podium, the pediments and entablature. A wrap it north, east and west in a tank signinum opus (lime mortar, sand and crushed pottery) created a water mirror certainly connected with the cult.

“How can you not like Ancient?”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

We wandered through the streets with our guide book in hand and only with the help of a local couple and some broken Portugese did we find it. Honestly I was expecting more, but then having visited other Roman ruins, there isn't much to this. But still we don't have anything this ancient in the States, so it is definitely worth a look.....and the nearby cathedrals are worth finding too.

“Not to be missed on your walking tour of Evora”
Reviewed June 28, 2014

This roman ruin just adds to the charm of Evora. Single ruin at the pinnacle of Evora. It's not Rome - true, but Evora is a charming walled city with lots of character. It would be an absolute shame to come to Evora and miss exploring it on foot. And if you're walking the city, you don't want to miss this little gem - it's in incredibly good shape given the age and history.

“Worth a quick look- that's it”
Reviewed June 24, 2014

If someone has never seen a Roman ruin- this is terrific.

But if a traveler has been to Rome, Arles,Orange ,Ephesus , or a lot of other sites, this is at the bottom of the list.

Evora is a gem of a city and well worth the effort to see it-this is one of many places that make the city a joy to visit.

But it would not be the # 1 reason to come here.

“Nice, but not terrific”
Reviewed June 13, 2014

Of course it´s always nice to see a temple, but this one is not big and not so preserved. Of course it´s a must when being there, and it´s for free.
