Oh yes indeed. You definitely get plenty of gastronomic value (gourmet even on some choice specialities available once a week - on differebt days, thankfully) for your €uros, pounds or dollars in this unprepossessing but simply charming place. A mix of local old world service with sypathy & plenty of information and interesting conversation (optional, not mandatory) and a wide chopice of local Alentejano staples as well as the odd oddity aimed mostly at college students rather than tourists novelty. So keeping things potuguese with an edge rathen than catering for tourists only as many bland nearby eaterires do or to somewhat overwhelming local cuisine only establishments which also are abundant in presence but somewhat disappointing in delivering the Goods.
Here you won't have to worry about that at all. Lamb - as a stew, in a fully fledged many-vegetables-ornate oven variety and as plain griiled cutlets - is both a treat and a must.
Desserts are not so varied and in some Évora restauants that will bill you as much as five times the average prices here but they still cast a wide enough traditional and international (but not bland) net to satisfy all but the most reluctant traveller. That this has been a place of many a far-flung customer finding it almost always by chance but rapidly succumbing to its qualities is attested to on the only bit of decor that is not only true blue (blue and white porcelain, deep dark browns in furniture and a mixture of regional themes in paintings and lithographs) but also quirky in tha many a past napkins, serviettes, those unheralded, disposable pieces of trivia that here have been put to good use with the juicisest testimonies to the food and service's superiority finding a pinned to the wall ephemerety that is both originally amusingly and defiantly not so bodegradable as you might have thought.
An excellent option to eat out when in Évora and wishing to remain central, pampered and satisfied.
