My girlfriend and I had dinner at this restaurant on the 31st of July 2012. Our hotel made a reservation (making a reservation is highly recommended due to the small size of the restaurant and its popularity!).
The place itself is fairly plain & simple, but the atmosphere is good. As far as I know, one can only sit inside. Doesn't matter anyway, because it's located in a small alley.
The restaurant doesn't really have a menu and you don't have to order anything. You will get a three-course meal. The cost is fixed at € 25 per person.
We first got an appetiser (mushroom), followed by a 'starter' (in this case something with cheese). There are also 'the usual things' on your table (bread, sausage and cheese). The main course was truly delicious slowly-roasted black porc. After we finished the porc, which was served with potatoes, gravy and spinach, the waiter asked us if we wanted more. For any normal human being one portion is (most likely) more than sufficient. However, because the food was really great, I told the waiter "Well, ok, we would like an extra half a portion please.". We got an entire extra portion instead - no additional fee was charged for this (!). They clearly liked seeing people enjoy their food. The dessert was a variety of local sweets; really good. The dessert was served with a glass of sweet red wine.
A bottle of (pretty decent) wine and a bottle of water are included in the price.
The service was more than adequate. The owner himself doesn't speak English, but his son does. One thing is certain: they love their work and they are proud of their little restaurant (this was also clearly demonstrated by the small tour of the kitchen we got after we had dinner).
Conclusion: great food; great value for money. Certainly one of the best restaurants in Évora. A lovely place.
