Lovely cosy place for a light lunch made of excellent various tapas with local specialities, warm welcome. Only 9 sittings behind the bar.

“Fantastic lunch in Évora”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Really great food (local specialties) and service. The owner advises customers on food and wines and makes you feel immediately at home. As there are no tables food is served in the bar. Large variety of portuguese wines. I will definitely get back to the Botequim in my next visits to Évora.

“True gem”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

Went there twice in december: a dinner in a friday night of poring rain in Évora and a lunch in saturday 22th. Both great gastronomical experiences.
The place is cosy but incredibly small as only have 12 seats! The restaurant doesn't accept reserves so when one decides to go there only with a lot of luck will find seats avaiable... otherwise waiting time can go from half an hour to an hour outside (there is no room inside).
The decor is typical from the south of Portugal. The sympathy of the owner is overwhelming.
LIKED
food quality
sympathy
cosyness
wide choice of wines
DISLIKED
No reservations
only 12 seats (9 arrond the balcony and 3 facing the window)
hard to find.

eated
- melted cheese
- lamb
- wild mushrooms
- ham
- scrambled eggs with asparagus
- cheesecake (dessert)
- baked quince with walnuts (dessert)

Bill arround €50 for two
It enters on my top 10 restaurants in Portugal

“aah, what a meal!”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

has been the best ever in Portugal thus far...was recommended by Suraya at our hotel ALBERGARIA DO CALVARIO & it was so well worth it. we had veal & lamb that melted in our mouths, pata negra, local fried cheese & the most amazing poached quince for dessert along with delicious local vines. the owner (the maitre'd, waiter, manager etc. etc.) & his wife (the chef) were extremely friendly & went out of their way to make the evening very special. i wish i could be back though sadly i doubt i will.

“Exellent food”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

But the place is really tiny, so with 10 people it's packed. Prices are medium-high, but service is allways friendly.
