“One very happy birthday girl”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

We booked the Clippies Fayre for my daughter's 21st birthday meal, based on the variety of the menu for the fussy eaters among the party, but also for proximity to home. We had been before several years ago, so knew the quality would be good.
We were seated in the conservatory - perfect for the occasion and beautifully decorated for Christmas. The service was excellent, as was the food. All starter plates went back to the kitchen empty - then came the main courses. They do NOT scrimp on portion size!!!! My sister in law said her lasagne was the best she had ever tasted. My father's fish - freshly caught that day - was HUGE! It was a struggle to finish, but most of us did. We had pre-ordered the food, so several of us still had pudding to come. After a short break (at our request) out they came. Definitely left the best for last! As much of a struggle as it was, we persevered and finished them all!!!!
When the staff discovered it was my daughter's birthday, they came out of the kitchen with a massive slab of cake and candles and sang happy birthday to her.
Everyone left singing the praises of what was a very enjoyable night.
Food isn't fancy, but there is plenty variety and tastes great, and staff couldn't be more helpful. Oh, the bill - couldn't believe how cheap it was - EXCELLENT value for money!!!
Well done, Clippies Fayre for making my daughter's birthday a night to remember.

“Trinity Church Guild Christmas Lunch”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

Our visit to the Clippies Fayre was a huge success. The welcome received on arrival was second to none and entering into a warm and cosy dining room from a very "dreich day ootside" added to the experience. The ambience at the Clippies Fayre was perfect and was created in part by the very friendly approach of the owner. The quality of the food was excellent and the portion size was generous. The speedy delivery of service ensured that all of the food was piping hot. A good choice of menu for both the mains (Turkey with all the trimmings, Steak Pie and Coronation Chicken salad) and deserts. The Lemon syrup on top of the Lemon Mousse merits a special mention as does the fruit pie (could be served with cream or ice cream) which was absolutely scrumptious. The tea and coffee and Chocolate mints added the final touch to this excellent lunch. The owner went out of her way to engage with our Group and this added to the enjoyment. We would highly recommend the Clippies Fayre to others and would be more than happy to return at a future date. Definitely value for money. Customer Service and Customer Satisfaction at its best.

“Terrific service, excellent choice on menu, fresh and well cooked grub. Will be back.”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

Made my first visit in a group of 6. Menu choice was great; we all had several dishes that appealed to us. Service was excellent and food well presented. Finished off with Clootie Dumpling that would have made my granny proud - it was only missing a silver threepenny.

From the online handling of our booking to our settling the bill this was a genuinely positive and enjoyable experience.

Should be very proud of what you are delivering.

No draught beer but that shouldn't get in the way of an excellent experience.

“Fantastic Food”
Reviewed December 16, 2012 via mobile

Have been a few times and have never been disappointed. The food, atmosphere and staff is excellent. Staff very friendly and even remembered the food allergy that my niece had, when we visited months before this visit, so they were able to tell us exactly what foods she had to avoid and what she could have from the menu. The food is outstanding, down to their own salad dressing, which is a homemade honey and mustard one, and is a treat. The Sirloin Steak was melt in your mouth delicious and cooked to perfection. The Menu is varied, so there are dishes suitable for all tastes. Even their freshly prepared Cappuccinos are fabulous. Kelty doesn't need a Starbucks or a Costa coffee, as this place does far better tasting Cappuccinos. The staff are friendly and helpful and norhing is too much trouble. This makes you feel proud to have such an establishment on your door-step.
