“Fried fish in bread”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013

you will find balik ekmek (fish in bread ) at several locations in Akbuk, but kumbali Balik ekmek is the best by far, serving sardalys fillets, ( small white fish ) and mezgit fish ( whiting fillet ) fillet with green salad & onions all in a single loaf of bread
Kumbali Balik Ekmek is located on the harbour in Akbuk, served from a boat moored in the harbour, the owner/cooks name is Rengin
a very tasty delicious tummy filler, Regin can be found on facebook at
Kumbalı Balık Ekmek, i highly recomend you try her balik ekmek,
very clean, boneless fish in batter, in full view as been cooked.

“The Number One Fish Lady.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2013

Every time we visit Akbuk we always so enjoy our visit to the Kumbali Balik Ekmek. She cooks her fresh sardine sandwich on her little boat especially for you. You sit on little stools surrounded by happy Turkish families and wait your turn. The sandwich is delicious and she loves it when we call her 'The number one fish lady'. She speaks no English, but as the only offering is the sardine sandwich for 6 TL or the fish fillet sandwich for 8 TL, it is easy to indicate your order.

The atmosphere is wonderful, sitting there watching the sun go down surrounded by bobbing boats and flapping flags. There is a fridge from which you can get soft drinks, and she has no objection to your bringing your own beer or wine.

The fish so good and fresh that Rick Stein himself would be proud to serve it.

“Sardine heaven.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2013

The Kumbali Balik Ekmek is a small boat restaurant tied up in the Akbuk harbour. The owner, Regin Kimbali is there from 5pm until well after dusk, when the boat is all lit up.

This very nice lady sells very fresh battered filleted sardines (and other white fish) with bread and a little salad. The food is kept refrigerated and freshly cooked to order, in a wok, on the boat. Chairs and small tables with pickles and condiments are provided on the harbour alongside the boat.

The Kumbali provides these very tasty light meals and snacks to lots of locals and tourists alike.

This is a must for anyone who enjoys fresh cooked fish and is visiting Akbuk.
