“Bit of a hidden gem”
Reviewed August 3, 2014

Found this place purely by chance but what a good find! A stunning setting with views for miles and set up for visitors to take advantage of this for lunch. The centre itself is stunning and the actual showroom really having the wow factor. Lots to look at with a temporary exhibition of period dress from Hollywood movies of the theme. Very interesting and the staff were extremely helpful and clearly are interested in what they do.

“Best attraction on IOW by far”
Reviewed August 1, 2014 via mobile

We spent a week on the IOW last year and spent a lot of it wishing we were in Cornwall but not the day we went to the Roman Villa, one of the very best Roman ruines in the UK so if you are near you should go, was great value and we spoke at length to a gentleman named David who worked there and we were lucky he shared his endless enthusiasm with us which made it extra special and helped spark a true interest in all things Roman.
Also the near by view point (high car park) is worth popping into on the way there, we saw buzzards flying below us which was really awesome.

“Hidden gem”
Reviewed August 1, 2014 via mobile

We have visited many roman sites in past and this was certainly one of the most impressive. The current temporary exhibition of historic film props from Gladiator, King Arthur, Centurian and Spartans (TV) was an added bonus that both big and little kids loved -being allowed to get hands on with all the costumes was brilliant.

“A great centre”
Reviewed July 30, 2014

I liked the ruins-the fact that there were archeologists working on the site and we could chat to them-I liked the kids friendly environment to engage them with history.I liked the friendly staff who charged me the younger rate as I did not look like an OAP. I thought the coffee w3as superb-the toasted tea cakes excellent..and oh...the ruins themselves-how amazing are the mosaics? Not much left of the walls-but enough to make you wonder how far we really have come since those days before...A must..
