“Some good, some not some good”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2014

We ate at this restaurant as part of a very large group (10 couples), so perhaps our experiences were not typical. The location of the restaurant is quite wonderful, with the tables on a sort of deck out over the bay. The appetizers were innovative and very tasty. The main course of lobster spaghetti was a huge disappointment. I had expected chunks of lobster meat in a sauce over properly cooked pasta. What I got was one-half of the entire lobster, in its shell and so over-cooked that the meat fell out in rubbery lumps, with a huge mound of overdone and luke-warm spaghetti coated in what tasted like a canned sauce.

We had expected high prices, and they were — more than double any other meal we ate in the Mani region — but the quality did not justify those prices.

“Great food using local ingredients”

The nearest one can get to fine dining in the Mani peninsula in Greece. Risotto with wild asparagus was superb. Great selection of Greek wines to accompany the food.

“Loved it!”

A great stay, next to the beach! A great chef signs their menu (which is wonderful by the way) and their cocktails are wonderfully executed. Easy going people all around you, a perfect relaxation destination!

“Up and down”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2014

We had a nice Xmas dinner at this restaurant last year, so decided to return this year start January with one of our friends. The service was very good and the recommended red wine (Monemvasia, regional dry red 2006 for 25 EUR) was an excellent fruity, full, yet dry and not too heavy red wine.
The starters were very well prepared; two carrot ginger soup (velvety and really tasty) and one potion of the small feta cheese pies with locally cured ham (crispy and creamy). A really nice start!
For mains we (three p.) ordered the pumpkin risotto, the rooster with linguini and the chicken breast with parmaham and truffel sauce. The risotto had a nice taste but was a few minutes undercooked. The truffle sauce was delicate and delicious, but the chicken breast a bit to dry.
The linguini served with the rooster was absolutely flavourfull; a bit of tomato, herbs and chicken stock with an al dente pasta. The best part of all of the main dishes! However, the rooster accompanyong it was unfortunately so dry that we could not eat it. We tried and then gave up. It is probably the driest rooster I ever ate. What a shame with that great tasting pasta!
When the waitress arrived, we mentioned that the rooster was way too dry and that the chef should try it him/herself. She apologised and the dish was actually removed from the bill, which was very much in line with the good service received throughout the evening.

My friends wanted to try some homemade desserts (we specifically asked for home made ðelicacies) and ordered a chocolate and a cheese cake. The (more senior) waitress came to inform us that we should know that the cakes were not home made, but from a well known bakery. Only the chocolate mouse was home made. Again a very proper service. We agreed to only try one piece of (not home made) chocolate cake and it was actually not bad, but also really not worth the calories. I understand that a smaller restaurant cannot have a full time dessert chef, but think that a good uncomplicated home made apple pie and chocolate cake should be feasible to cheer up the menu. Less of higher quality is more!

When the bill arrived, also the dessert was removed (next to the rooster) as a kind gesture.
All in all it was an evening with up and downs. For the price, the level of quality is not sufficiently consistent, so I do not think I will visit the restaurant again. It is a shame though because the service was great, setting fabulous and some (parts of) the dishes really tasty.
