Wanted to give a big shout out to Carl, who waited on us during our dinner. He did a great job! He was very thorough in his presentation and his knowledge of the menu was excellent. We appreciated the time he spent with us and how delightful he made our dining experience.

The rooms are dated and the bed is not comfortable, but its clean and cheap. The pool and bar area have been updated and there is live entertainment at night on the weekends. The management was friendly and helpful and you can walk to the best restaurant in Galveston!

Room Tip: Call early if you want a Gulf view, the rooms are not too much more money, and the view would really enhance the stay.

Gaido's Seaside Inn has been a family friendly place to stay in years past and we were always willing to look past the questionable cleanliness, outdated everything and over priced motor lodge style room for the retro feel, basic swimming pool and beach access across the street. Simple, no frills Galveston classic, overpriced. We were fine with that. Our past stay this August (2013) brought the same, if not, dirtier room (my kids feet turned black only minutes after taking a shower and then walking around the room), a surlier staff (mostly at the bar) and the addition of a new beach bar hangout connected to the pool area. This new profit center encourages the bar crowd to drive in and party near the pool and watch football and then listen to live music (loud till pretty late) at night. Not against it, just don't want it near my kids. The new pool area is upgraded quite a bit (it is nicer) but is now attracting more of a weathered party crowd. We've stayed there several years now with the kids along with our friends families, but will unfortunately be looking elsewhere for a room. It's always been a bit grungy and overpriced ($400 w/tax for two nights/gulf facing), but now it's gotten more pricey and catering to another crowd. I would no longer recommend for families.

Galveston, in general...if not just the entire state of Texas, is a complete and utter joke! There is nothing worthwhile happening there, no worthwhile people there to serve you food, services, or otherwise, and the entire place should serve as some sort of financial warning to the rest of the country. Spend your time and money on something...anything other than this waste.

We spent a couple of nights here this past May while scouting a beach location and making other arrangements for our June wedding. Reminds you of motels from the Route 66 era when vacations were extended road trips. Your basic 50's - 60's era motel which has no doubt been refurbished many times over the years. You get what you pay for, which is what most of us are looking for and expect. The pool was above average and there is an outside bar here now. We had no complaints and the price fits the accommodations, for a resort destination. Good value in Galveston.

Room Tip: Always choose non-smoking rooms even if you smoke. They are always cleaner, smell better, don't have the miscellaneous burn holes in the bedding and carpet, and seem to always have better a/c's, due to smoke clogging up the filters.
