This beautiful farmhouse is of exceptional high quality. Each bedroom is bright and airy with comfy beds. The kitchen is well equipped. The laundry houses a useful electric cold store. Table tennis in the garage is great for rainy days. The grounds are huge, a pond with a boat and a huge field, also a lovely sheltered area.a safe cycle path is two minutes from the house with which you can cycle to town which has two supermarkets and a couple of excellent bakeries. The owners are close by and responded quickly when we had a problem, we forgot how to use the hob!
We used this as a base for exploring where my grandfather served in the first world war and found it to be an excellent location. Ypres is about 15 minutes by car. Book a tour early in your stay if this is of interest to you.

We’d seen the photos of Loobeek Farm on line but nothing could prepare us for the real thing.

First impressions when we walked in were ‘Wow, just wow!’ The property is absolutely superb, spotlessly clean, spacious and finished to the highest standard. It is without doubt the nicest place that I’ve stayed in for a very long time.

We went as a party of 9 people and on arrival were greeted by the owner and her son who then gave us a tour of the farmhouse and a very thoughtful gift of Belgian chocolates and, even more welcome after a long journey, Belgian beer.

The owners have thought of everything to make a comfortable stay. The walk in ‘cool room’ was a real bonus. The meadow with wild flowers and Flanders poppies is beautiful and the younger members of our group loved the lake and small boat.

The property is ideally situated for visiting the First World War battlefields and sites in the Flanders area. Ypres (Ieper) is only 10 minutes away and Passendale is about 8 miles to the West. A closer reminder of 100 years ago can be seen from the garden. The German ‘Ziegler Bunker’ or ‘Viking Ship’ still lurks in a field about 300 yards away.

Loobeek Farm is also handy for Bruges and we spent a very pleasant day at the seaside in Nieuwpoort too. Both of which were less than an hour’s drive away.

We will, without doubt, be returning.
