This was our first stay in Ypres and the B&B De Potyze was a superb find. Very close to the centre of Ypres, can be walked easily in fine weather, and also close to many of the WW1 memorial sites.

The farmhouse itself is stunning. It is set away from the main road, surrounding by peaceful fields and beautifully tended gardens. The rooms were so comfortable and beautifully decorated and there is also a little sitting area with a small fridge and TV.

The breakfast was one of the best parts of the stay, Paul and Mimi offered a veritable feast! There were local cheeses, hams, cereals, fresh fruit, bacon, omlettes, AMAZING home made jams, fresh home made juices, yoghurts... I could even continue!! It was served in the beautiful room downstairs and really set us up for the whole day.

The thing that really made our stay so memorable and special was the kindness, hospitality and warmth of the owners of the B&B, Paul and Mimi. Both were so fantastic, sharing local knowledge and history, and generally being warm and friendly.

I feel so happy to have discovered this gem and will hopefully be returning to explore the rest of the area.

All I can say is thank you SO much to Paul and Mimi for a truly wonderful break.

Room Tip: They are both beautiful!

This is a beautiful location a few kilometres from the centre of Ypres. The garden and house are immaculate as is the accommodation. We visited the area during Easter which also included ANZAC Day 2011. We tried to include as many of the nearby WW1 War Cemeteries as possible, including Tyne Cot, Polygon Wood, The Butte - 5th Division AIF Memorial, Passchendaele Memorial Museum(excellent) which had a Scottish Fair in the grounds and in Ypres 'In Flanders Field Museum'(brilliant). All of these places evoke feelings of great sadness for the people, both soldiers and citizens, whose lives were changed for ever during the battles of WW1.
The most moving ceremony is the playing of the Last Post and the Reveille by up to 6 members of the local volunteer Fire Brigade, under the memorial arch of Menin Gate. Every night at 20.00hrs, traffic is stopped as the sound of the trumpets echo along the streets.
Paul is an attentive host and Mimi, who does not speak English is a delightful, thoughtful hostess. Breakfast is a superb feast and a wonderful start to the day. Paul and Mimi recommended 'De Ruyffelaer' - Grandmother's cooking in an old Flemish decor - for a Traditional Belgium meal and it did not disappoint!
Would definately stay again!

Paul and Mimi were so hosiptable and welcoming. Wondeful hosts!

The rooms were lovely, breakfast a feast, in a truely wonderful Belguim location with amazing views of the countryside around.

Anyone looking to stay in Belguim, I would therefore definitely recommend staying here; evening it as a base for other activities, such as walking, cyclying, visiting WW1 memorials, and Yypres.

Room Tip: Both rooms are lovely!!

Paul and Mimi are two wonderful people. It was lovely staying with them and their hospitality is of a really high standard. The B&B is clean and well kept. The house and gardens are lovely.

It's on the outskirts of Ieper (about 15-20 min walk from center) but we liked being there especially the big garden. We had a nice walk back to the B&B each night after a lovely meal in the centre. There are two WW1 cemeteries within walking distance of the B&B in either direction which we visited and took photos of.

This is great place to stay for cycle touring as Paul has big garage where bikes can be stored and worked on if necessary (we had to!).

The breakfasts were scrumptious. What a great way to start a day!

But for us what really made our stay memorable was the warmth, friendliness and the hospitality of two wonderful people in Paul and Mimi.

Lovely quiet setting with a wonderful garden in the countryside, very close to downtown Ieper. Paul and Mimi are gracious hosts serving an excellent farmfresh breakfast! Paul's apple juice was absolutely superb. Very clean and modern room and amenities - would very definitely stay here again.
