“The Canadian John McCrae”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

This guy was a medico who served in the 1 WW but who also wrote a poem which has gone down in Canadian history as a significant piece of poetry. Beautiful cemetery with a very sad grave - a 15 year old boy's grave from the trenches.

“Makes you proud to be Canadian”
Reviewed July 3, 2013 via mobile

A small but moving site. The bunkers are interesting to see and give you a sense of what might have inspired Dr. McRae.

“Same as Essex Farm”

Well documented about John McCrae & his poem here, lovely well maintained cemetery. Wish they had poppies in the wild areas surrounding it...would draw more attention to it.

“Canadians need to see this”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

If you are in the area, you must take time to see this memorial. And, as importantly, to read about this incredible man. The site is very moving and, like most memorial sites, impeccably maintained.

“So moving”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

This sight is where John McCray worked during WW1. A medical station that would have been about 250m from the front line. It is also where he wrote the famous poem 'in flanders fields'.
The conditions in which they worked is so evident here.
He is not buried the the cemetery next door, however the youngest known soldior is buried here - 15 years old! It is so hard to imagine what it was like. Must visit!
