We booked 1 day in advance, visiting the restaurant at 6:00pm with 3 on a Sunday evening.
The staff is very friendly, helpful and correct. There is a corner with toys/books for children. The atmosphere is very cosy/home-like.
It took about 30 minutes before we had our first course: pork cheeks and fish filet. Especially the pork cheeks with lavender had a great taste. Good red wine, too. At 7:00pm the place was full and the ambiance was excellent. Recommend to book in advance as several visitors had to be rejected.
We had dame blanche, brownie and tiramisu for dessert: again very good flavours.
All meals were of good size. The price was lower than expected: 65 euro for 3 main courses, 3 desserts and 6 drinks. Highly recommended given the very good quality of the food, correct pricing and nice atmosphere.

Booked from UK on strength of reviews here. Our party was probably too large and there were several wrong orders (unless their English was worse than our Belgian) and there was a long wait. The couples who came, ate and left had a fab time and in different circumstances this place would have been fine and more of a 'local' experience than places in the nearby square. Lovely place and atmosphere, perched on a corner site. We would eat here again if we were in town.

Booked this place based on TA reviews, and very glad we did.

Just off the main square, but we wouldn't have found it had we not read TA. Menu is very limited - mainly burgers (which most people seem to be having), spaghetti and quiche.

We had reserved a table for Sat night 8.30pm, and when we got there the place was full and we were the only English.

We had the fish tapas for starters between us - a plate of 6 large prawns, rollmop herrings, pickled anchovies, sun dried toms, olives, cheese, and bread with fish paste and salmon and cheese on it. We later noticed that tables of 4 or even 6 were sharing one of these. All very good. For mains we had the burger with cheese, and salmon quiche. Both came with salad and the quiche would have been more than enough for the 2 of us. Do not come here unless very hungry!

The staff are very friendly and speak good English and will explain the menu.

With a good bottle of house wine, plus a couple of extra glasses, bill was 55 euros which was very reasonable for what we had.

Made a reservation for a Friday night and was not disappointed. The place was full, mainly with local diners, which is always a good sign. You will experience a wait as food is cooked to order, but sit back and enjoy the ambience and the Belgian beer and wine on offer. Limited number of items on menu, but our selections were excellent. Very friendly guy helped to explain menu and made good recommendations for beer and wine. Very reasonable price overall. We wish the young couple running this restaurant future success - they deserve it.

We wanted a more local experience away from the Tourist area of the Grote square and saw this bistro which looked very appealing. It seems very popular with the locals and tables filled quickly after 7 pm. The young owner was very friendly and helpful to us Aussies. We settled on the Petit hamburger thinking it would be a small snack but it was a large very tasty hamburger in a good crusty bun with a small side salad and tomato salsa. Delicious and very reasonable priced. A very good selection of beer, wine and spirits. Food is freshly prepared and therefore takes more time so don't come here if you expect a fast meal. We arrived at 6.30 pm and left at 7.40 pm, in time to attend the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate.
