Review of Market Square

Market Square
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed February 13, 2013

The streets are very quaint and well work enjoying. History is all around you and the buildings a mixture of old, new and rebuilt. Nice cafe or bars serve the area which is not too traffic dominated in February how ever I suspect at other times parking could be a real issue.

We stayed two nights at the Regina Hotel located right on the Square and directly opposite the Cloth Hall. This gave us the opportunity to stroll the Market Square at leisure and it was relaxing, even though it is quite busy during the day. The Square is dominated by the magnificent Cloth Hall, with the Menin Gate Memorial in easy walking distance. Eating or having a drink in one of the many restaurants surrounding the Square, particularly at night when the place is all lit up, and watching the world go by, is a very pleasant way to end each day. Fantastic!!!

The Market Square is a great place to eat or sit and enjoy the people. Go in the day and night as the buildings are flood lit at night and give a beautiful magical appearance. After The Last Post take a stroll to the Market Square and enjoy a stroll around this lovely space or have a coffee and enjoy the view. There is also parking here and bus stops.

The beautifully restored square is a delight to see & there is often something other than Great War attractions going on there. Cafes & restaurants surround it, all serving good food.
It is time however, that the town improved the public toilets!
