Owner description: The Ypres region was the backdrop to on of the bloodiest battles in history, 100 years ago. Now the last witness have died too, the In Flanders Fields Museum is more than ever the gateway to the First World War in Flanders. The In Flanders Fields Museum confronts the visitor with the consequences of the Great War. Old and young are faced with life and death in the Ypres front region. The exhibition with touching video projects, unique sound fragments and the most up-to-date multimedia applications immerse you in the life at the front. each visitor also receives a poppy bracelet that enables him/her to discover four personal stories of 'Joe Public' in the Great War. By logging in you can meet your peers in the war, a century ago.

“A Well Done Glimpse into Horror”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

This museum is a mesmerising view of a terrible war that accomplished nothing except setting the table for another terrible war. The presentation of the Christmas truce is very moving. It is such a good use of video and live actors. We also enjoyed the tribute at the end to Herbert Hoover.

“Outstanding revamped museum”
Reviewed June 18, 2013

Engaging and absorbing, not preachy. Impact builds as you go round. Refurbed in 2012 it's now all v hi-tech (get the poppy wristbands for 1 euro deposit) but not in an annoying way - gives you options to look at almost limitless range of detail if you want, or you can just move on to next thing. Maybe a few more chairs so you can take a break because this will take a while.

“Never forget”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

A great glimpse into a very dark period of loss, Sombre it may be and the music somewhat heavy but it conveys the history that we must never forget. Take your time and watch the small video playlets and learn.

“Great Museum.”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

Great museum worth a visit. Will take several hours to look round. You can also climb to the top of the tower for a great view over Ieper. Closed on mondays as all museums are in Belgium.
