I had an excellent stay quite some time ago, and with the new owners and renovations it sounds like it would be even better now! The friendly, helpful service and great breakfast (huge hot chocolate and loads of yummy food, in an elegant restaurant overlooking the square) made this hotel stick out in my memory. Hopefully those things won't change! The room (22) was by far the biggest I had during my several months travelling in Europe - no squeezing your suitcase into the tiny amount of space around the bed here. I couldn't resist dancing around the room with joy at having more than a couple of square metres spare.

The location is great, just a short walk from the train station and Menin Gate, and right on the main square with plenty of restaurants, bars and chocolate shops!

I would definitely return if I visit Ypres again, and would hope to see it improved!

This was a nice hotel, right on the Grand Place. It had a really good bar, and the rooms were pretty quiet. English spoken, and a private garage for the car just a few minutes walk away. 200 yards from the Menin Gate

Kris and Saskia are wonderful hosts with the guest experience their priority. Their team support their hardwork and committment. Gradually the hotel is being refurbished, but even the budget rooms that are still to be updated, are of a very good standard. Clean, comfortable, well equipped, value for money every time. A wonderful restaurant, great breakfast, attentive service by very friendly staff. My sister was poorly; Saskia and her staff offered help and alternatives to make her comfortable, nothing was too much trouble. A fantastic place to stay where you can be assured of a very relaxing comfortable break. For the price, the Regina is one of the best places I have stayed, wonderful. Loved the stories of the Resistance operating in the same buildings at the German officers. Allo Allo? Maybe!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the Cloth Hall are amazing but then they can be noisy if you like to sleep with the win...

I took my dad away on the 6th of April to Ypres. We had not booked a hotel and just happened to turn up at the first one we came across. We met Kris on the front desk who was more than helpful and instantly gave us advise on the best places to visit and eat, like our very own tourist information. The room was clean and a perfect place for us to explore from. The food in the restaurant is a must!!! We were told before hand that the kitchen is small but everything is freshly prepared on site. So I was glad that at least Kris was honest from the start that there might be a slight delay (due to the kitchen being small) however the food is definitely worth the wait. At breakfast the next morning it was great to be able to talk with the owners and enjoy a nice variety of food before setting off on our day. There was no hidden charges to pay for like most hotels and I would not think twice about going elsewhere. I am going back in a few months and will most certainly go straight back

Seven of us on a WW1 battlefields trip shared 4 rooms.
The rooms varied considerably in size and quality.
I was lucky as I got a room 32 facing the Cloth Hall which had a large sitting room and separate wc and shower rooms.
Others weren't so lucky as their twin rooms were small.
The motion sensor lights on the stairs often failed to work leaving it fairly dark.
The whole layout of the Hotel is a bit hotch potch with lots of wasted space leading to some quirky rooms and several levels and corridors.
We didn't have any noise problem.
Breakfast was the usual continental style and was fine.
We attempted to use the bar at about 9pm but they had cashed up and said it was too difficult to serve us. Their loss.
The location is fantastic.Get a front room if you can.
Parking is in the square outside, but get advice on when you can park from the hotel.
Overall a reasonable experience, but could be better.
We did notice some building work on the second floor so things may be different when its completed.

The hotel lobby and bar, were very nice, great staff and very attractive. Getting to our room was an adventure. The stairs were narrow, the halls dark and the layout confusing. The room was nothing special, bare bones and no soap in the bathroom. the view was outstanding though. Our room over looked the main sqaure and Cloth hall, pretty amazing.
So like the title says, nice but nothing special.

I have never stayed here before and was not sure what to expect. The current owners are working tirelessly on renovating the hotel and rooms. If you stay expect to see a few workmen about. That said it is not over intrusive and will ultimately mean a better experience when the work is complete. The room we had was more than adequate and had a fantastic view of the square and directly opposite the Cloth Hall ! The bed was very low so bear this in mind! If you have mobility problems or are elderly you would struggle with the bed that we had.Having said that the other couple we were with had a normal bed. So just double check with the owners by e-mail when booking, the bed was very comfortable once in it. The rooms are equiped with tea making facilities and a state of the art coffe making machine.

The staff here were very attentive and incredibly polite. From the receptionist to the owner they are all very pleasant and helpful. At breakfast the owner was actually serving. I have never been looked after so well as soon as my glass of juice was empty it was instantly refilled. The same with the coffee. The breakfast was an ample continental breakfast. The owner took the time to sit down with us and explain the history of Ypres the Cloth Hall and was clearly very knowledgable. He also explained the significance of the hotel during the Second World War regarding the Resistance movement.

All in all it was a throughly enjoyable stay. I will not criticise any element of the hotel as the only faults lie with work in progress which have to be done and will be of great benefit to those staying in the future. The Hotel also offers parking in a garage 5 minutes walk away. Worth taking up as parking in the square is not always available and requires the meter topping up. It is worth the extra 5 Euros to avoid the hassle.
