“Nice personal service”
Reviewed September 19, 2007

We only stayed for one night., but it was refreshing to stay in a privately run family (non chain) Hotel with a quiet and peaceful ambiance. The staff was lovely, very friendly and helpful. We got a great Restaurant Bar recommendation, where we got a great meal.

Our room was very spacious, comfortable, clean with a bathroom that was positively palatial.

Breakfast was plentiful, but I thought slightly dull. As I usually enjoy the continental buffet breakfast.

The only slight negative for us, was that the bar closed at 11.00pm. This is indicated on the infomation, but seems a tad early.

The Albion Hotel is a real treasure in Ypres. It is conveniently located and easily accessible to the heart of the town. Free parking was available. We were given a spacious, clean, comfortable room with a very spacious bathroom with all modern conveniences. While there was no air conditioning, a fan was provided in the room.
The lounge is very well appointed and a comfortable venue for a late evening drink. The continental breakfast served in the lounge was extensive, fresh and delicious.
Staff were friendly, helpful and gracious.
We were delighted with our experience at this hotel and would highly recommend it.

Our purpose was to visit the Menin Gate and see our Grandfathers name inscribed on the wall. Reached the Albion late on the Friday night tired and hungry. We were greeted warmly by Christiane who booked us in and offered us the information we needed to fullfill our intentions. Despite the late hour she even booked us a table in a nearby Restaurant, which was fabulous.
The Hotel rooms were very clean and mine in particular, spacious.
Breakfast was a real continental feast. The Hotel and Staff are a credit to the industry.
We look forward to our next visit.

Stayed here at the end of May for 2 nights as a base for visiting the surronding sites and battlefields of Ypres. There is no designated car parking but the street outside the hotel is free to park on as is the square around the church across the road so no problems there. We received a very warm welcome from Christiane. The room was a good size with a large and clean bathroom. Shower and bath. The only thing was there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room - though I dont think we were expecting there to be any.

The breakfast, included, was excellent. Vast array of cereals, tea, coffee, juice, breads, pastries, yoghurts, jams, eggs, cold meats. There was loads there to fill anyone!

Location wise it was excellent. Easily accessible from the Lille Gate entrance. Less than a 5 minute walk to the Menin Gate (which you must attend at 8pm) and the Grote Marte. But not so close that noise was a problem. It really was excellent and I would stay there again no problem.

Visited Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday with Wife .2 Children Age 15 and 11 and Mother in Law 78.

Hotel clean and tidy and very welcoming.and generally good value for money.

Excellent breakfast ,Rooms spacious but no tea/coffee making facilities,it was cold whilst there and the heating was not on so a little chilly at night.

The piped music was a nice touch although a room on the main street was a little noisy another reason to sample the excellent Belgium Beer!!

Beware early closing on Thursday in Ypes main square all shops are closed

We stayed for three nights over a weekend. The welcome by Christiane was more than we could have expected - warm, and she gave us some great information to help our weekend. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable and the lounge/breakfast room very pleasand indeed. The calvados portion was gererous in the extreme!
Would definately recammend and use again.

We stayed here only for 1 night having come over on the off-chance of finding a room, we managed to get one here and what a gem it turned out to be.
The room was extremely clean, spacious and excellent decor with a very spacious ensuite.
The breakfast was superb, more than enough choices and very well presented.
As for the host Christine she was delightful, so welcoming and could not do enough for us.
I recomend this hotel to anyone, we will definately be back and this time for longer!!
