“A beautiful base in the town of Peace”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

Had the good fortune that our choral group chose this location for our stay in Ieper (Ypres ) far superior to other well known chains based on experiences elsewhere. This has recently been refurbished but still retains feel of family run hotel. Rooms very clean and spacious. Appreciated little touches like well designed stool in bathroom can double as shower chair but is not intrusive. Also, noticed the chambermaid always left one light on so that if a later arrival, as soon as the key card goes into the power slot, a light will be sufficient. Breakfast is ample for the size of establishment and all staff encountered helpful. The only area possibly to work on is some provision of snacks to accompany bar drinks. Not compulsory though. Would certainly return to this hotel when next in town

Wanted to see the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ieper (Ypres) so needed to stop overnight rather than take just the usual day trip. The Albion hotel is well placed for the centre of Ieper and the Menin Gate. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and our room on the top (third) floor was modern, spacious and well appointed. It had a large bathroom, with wc, bath and walk-in shower. There was a dormer window in the bedroom, but also air-conditioning. Usual creature comforts such as tea making facilities, free wi-fi, flatscreen tv, etc. There is secured parking a very short drive away, although we managed to find a parking space on the road just outside the hotel. The continental breakfast is great. Very varied and plenty of it! We felt very welcome and found the hotel very relaxing. Although I travelled with a mate on this occasion I will definitely go back, maybe for a few days next time, with my wife and daughter. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Refurbished rooms on third floor. More modern than the other 'classic' rooms.

I have stayed at the Albion every year for the past 7 years. It possesses the warm welcoming atmosphere of a family run hotel. Quite, impeccably clean making the stay comforting and relaxing. Superb location and lovely staff. A great choice of quality fresh local produce for breakfast.

I stayed at the hotel with a large group for one night. The hotel staff were very friendly and efficient. The hotel is in a very good location and is very near the main square and the Menin Gate. The hotel has a good bar which becomes the breakfast room. Although the breakfast was continental, there was a lot of choice. I stayed in a twin room which was spacious and clean and the bathroom was larger than expected. The beds were very comfortable. The only downside was that there was no air conditioning so we had to keep the window open as the room was hot. There was a fan in the room but it didn't have much effect. Unfortunately, our room was by a side road and we were kept awake by the noise of cars screeching down the road in the early hours of the morning. On the whole, the hotel is a good one and I do agree with the other comments. If I'd been able to have a good night's sleep, I would definitely have marked this as excellent. I would certainly not hesitate to recommend this hotel and I would definitely come back - although with ear plugs next time!

Room Tip: No air con in rooms so window has to be left open. Take ear plugs with you as car noise from road si...

Excellent location. Only a short walk (5 minutes) to the Menin Gate, the Flanders Museum and the Town Square lined with a variety of restaurants. Very clean, spacious double bedroom and very large ensuite with separate bath and shower. WIFI, flatscreen TV and tea/coffee making facilities provided. The service was excellent. The friendly reception staff were happy to secure valuables, provide information about local sites/activities and recommend eating places. A reasonably priced laundry service and umbrellas were also available for guests. A superb continental breakfast was provided which included a range of pastries, cold meats and cheeses. Good value for money and would not hesitate to stay there again. Ralph & Anna, Australia

Everything you want from a hotel. Perfect location as it only a stone throw from the main square and Menin Gate. Lovely receptionist who couldn't have been more helpful and friendly and the rooms were spacious and clean. The hotel also has a good bar which turns into the breakfast room in the morning. An added bonus being a car park 15 yards from the hotel's front door.

We had one of the new rooms for a night and the room was lovely and airy with a window in the sloping roof. The room was well presented, spacious bathroom and very clean. Breakfast was continental with lots of choice.
