We stayed at the Albion for one night in September 2012 as part of an organised WW1 battlefields tour. It was convenient and spotlessly clean. Others have mentioned the friendliness of the owners and staff as well as the indulgent bathrooms and fabulous food and I must concur. Could not fault this hotel. Access great, two or three steps at front then lifts to floors.

Room Tip: Close to Menin Gate, town square (with Cotton Hall) and restaurants and shops. A relaxing little pa...

Stayed here three nights the end of Sept. Had room on the front of hotel, the bed was extremely comfortable, had extra pillows and blankets if needed, tea and coffee making facilities. Could not fault hotel, was extremely clean, great bathroom and breakfast was plentiful. The staff were great and really pleasant. Also it was in a great location and within walking distance to shops, restaurants, bars and Menin Gate. Would defiantly stay again.

One couldn’t fault the Albion Hotel in Ypres – the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room was large, spacious and spotlessly clean, as was the bathroom. The bathroom was unusually large – ask for room 205 if you like a lot of bathroom space. The shower was powerful and hot water was never a problem. Although room 205 overlooks the street we were never bothered with noise even though we had the window open when sleeping.
Breakfast was great, with plenty of choice, along with bowls of freshly boiled eggs. At the time of booking I informed the hotel that my wife is a celiac. The Albion went to great lengths to supply various items of gluten free bread / croissant etc for my wife’s breakfast. When we checked out we were given a small parcel containing that day’s remaining gluten free items for my wife to eat later in the morning on the Eurostar. This type of service and thoughtfulness just seems to come naturally at the Albion.
The hotel is located a short walk to the centre of town and the Menin Gates. We only stayed two nights, but I wished it could have been longer, the attention to the needs of their guests without going over the top was just ‘right’.

Room Tip: Ask for room 205

Extremely helpful and friendly staff. They were also polite and courteous and couldn't be faulted in any way. The location of the hotel is excellent and only a short walk from the centre of Ypres and the Menin Gate. We will definitely stay there again on our next visit, and couldn't recommend a better hotel in any location.

We stayed at the Albion for 3 nights (13-16 Sept.). The room was large, quiet, and spotlessly clean. It was 2 blocks from the center of town and the Menin Gate. They booked our battlefield tours for us and communicated with us by email promptly. I needed to see a physician while there and they immediately made an appointment for me and even offered to obtain the prescription if the pharmacy was too far. The last thing you want to do is get sick on a trip but with their caring assistance I was on the road to recovery in no time. The breakfasts were lovely too. Very highly recommended.

The staff are lovely and helpful, the beds are comfortable and most rooms seem very close to the lift! The Menin Gate and Memorial museum are roughly a 300m walk from the hotel so this made it easy. Breakfast? ... Well it is simply delicious and very well presented! I actually really enjoyed my stay- understated hotel but all very comfortable and well done!

Have just returned from a three night stay at this hotel. As others have reported all staff were very friendly and welcoming and willing to accomodate all our requests. The beds and rooms were very comfortable and the bathrooms modern and clean.

The breakfast each morning comprised a good range of items including cereal, bread, toast, pastries fruit, yoghurts, eggs, cheese and meats. The tea and coffee were of good quality and plentiful.

Parking on the street outside was very easy and we had no need to avail ourselves of the small private car park to the rear. The hotel is situation a few hundred metres from the Grote Markt and is very convenient for the Menin Gate and ramparts and the many bars and restaurants in the square.

The comments on other other reviews about a 'curfew' and 'being locked up' are quite frankly twaddle as the room key card also opens the front door to the hotel which is sensibly locked at 11pm. We were able to gain access quite easily after that hour and I can only assume that these reviews reflect a bad experience entirely of their own making.

This was my first stay at the Albion as I previously favoured the Ariane Hotel. The latter now appears very expensive in comparison and the Albion will be my favourite from now on.
